I don't get this 250 market, probably coz I havn't owned one for over 20 years now, but..... how can this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-273915183.htm which is now 14 years old be worth as much as this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-226724534.htm which is only 6 years old (and at a dealership), or for only $400 more you could have this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-276290410.htm which is only 5 years old and has an extra 650cc?

I think it could be a case of 250 buyers don't really know the value of what they are buying, so bikes are listed high, and easily bargained down maybe? I've got a 26yr old one listed for $1,500 perhaps if I listed it for $2,500 I would get more interest and then just bargain down heaps!

I'm not really complaining, more laughing at some people's expectations. I just think the bike is overpriced. And the gear is a red herring (unless you're exactly the same size and shape as the owner, and don't have gear already, and like the jacket, and are happy with a second hand pink helmet.
It can happen. I got my 96 Nighthawk for 3k and it came with boots gloves jacket and pants that all fit. Didn't get the helmet cos it was too big and i didn't want to be unisng a 2nd hand helmet anyway.

Any person looking at a bike to get their license,my advice grab a reasonable condition trail bike, usually heaps cheaper, can enjoy extra riding on beaches, forests etc and helps riding skills(imho),then when you have full license you can either keep or sell(usually lose money, but the initial outlay wouldn't be as much)and upgrade to a decent roadbike.

Why pay say $7000 on a 250 and sell it after maybe 2yrs to upgrade, when you can get an xr,xt,dr200-250 for say $2000, the amount you lose at trade pr selling time is less.

Well, it looks like the market price for a second hand 2009 Ninja in mint condition with just over 5,000 kms on the clock is around $5,100, if this Trade Me auction is anything to go by... http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.asp?id=279719391

So some guys might want to consider a rethink.

Holy crap. I sold my 2008 250 Ninja (5500km) a year ago and got $6300! Seems like marketing and photography skills give you $ in pocket. Maybe I should change my job...

nah ive been watching these bikes for a year. its the season. coz its going into winter learner riders are reluctant to buy.
i thought my bike was reasonable, then i look on trademe and i see dealers are undercutting me by heaps.
i dont care though, my situation has become more stable, and im not in a rush to sell, now.
hopefully ill get my full in august, then ill trade in.
