WTF indeed - crossing the centre lane should only be done with a lot of forethought & caution and never in a blind corner. All riders and drivers should challenge themselves to make every trip without crossing the centre line without firstly weighing up for several seconds the manoeuvre.

Generally you would cross the centre line to pass someone, you would check your rear view mirror first to make sure there wasn't someone else coming past you. You would also look along the road to ensure no vehicle is coming the other way and that you had more than enough visibility to make the manoeuvre safely. Cutting across a corner while negotiating a blind bend is bloody dangerous and very stupid, if you find yourself accidentally doing this then concentrate harder and work at not doing it again - you might not survive the same mistake the next time.

There's a good deal of reasons not to cross the centre line... I am pretty sure that the only reason they would be crossing in the blind would be because they messed up their lines and were going too quick to change them. A very good reason to keep left

I wonder though if it isn't pure lazy on some drivers parts. I travel a rural road to and from work each day, part of the trip is on 80kph road, speed limit lowered to compesate for piss poor driving skills and for maximum revenue gathering. The balance is open road. Now I drive that road at 100kph easy as, no crossing the lines etc. I can not count the number of times I have met traffic coming the opposite way, shortening up a corner and crossing into my path.

Yesterday I followed a car ALL the way to work, rep vehicle of some sort, making a delivery of drainpipe or the like. This friggen driver travelled 10 kph under the limit in the 80 zone, straightening up every corner he could. When we got to the open road section he sped right up, and attacked it like it was a race track! Absolute idiot! Not one single corner taken on his side of the road. I actually dropped right back from him as I was sure he was going to come to grief.
