    Neckbraces

Just a note to say that on sat we went to get some practise in at Patetonga mx track as we had changed tims rear gearing and we wanted to test it out ...well while we were there we witnessed the most horrible accident....that resulted in a young guy being flown out by chopper in a very serious condition
...BUT he was wearing a EVS neck brace and i have no dought in my mind WHATSOEVER if he had not been wearing it ..it would have been fatal...So the first purchase for us this week is a neck brace..i was kinda in two minds about them but after seeing this ..i wouldnt let my son ride without one
P.S I dont really want to go into details of the crash as i think the young guy concerned is still critically ill...its more a fact that i have seen a neck brace in action first hand and in this case it seemed to work
if you think life is 2 short , get a taller one

Shit sounds nasty, I have the EVS but if and when I buy another one I'd get the A-stars one from Scott. $550 from memory. Cheap insurance.
Hope the young guy heals up quick. Its all fun and games till you hit the deck hard.

I hope the guy will be alright and back on his bike in no time.

The neck brace, and other braces, are excellent things to have but it comes down to what you can afford. If i had kids they would go nowhere without full protection.
It has taken me 2 years to get very good knee braces as i just couldn't afford them and the same goes for a neck brace but as i am not that fast (I know its not the speed) i have chose to leave it untill next year.
There seems to be a big differance between what is good and what is affordable and also what shop sells what brand.
Also we tend to look at if things are cheap then they are not that good, myself inculded.

Again hope the guy gets better soon.

I also wanted the Alpine stars one my selft being a Alpine stars fan but iwas told from many poeple that the leatbrace was far better.

Ive been using it for over half a year and its been great.

Leatt brace is my preference. u can modify the presure suits to fit with braces. Alpine star neck braces are quiet pricy but they look good to. They dont take much time to get used to. i dont even notice mine anymore. Its been great.

I had to cut the shoulder protection out of my pressure suit so that the my EVS neck brace would fit on my shoulders properly. No biggy.

Me and krad have EVS braces. They're pretty good, took me a couple of rides to figure out how to wear it comfortably for me. I'm a bit prone to coming off and hitting my head I've done it a few times pre-brace and it always resulted in seeing stars, a bit of a sit down, and in one case, neck pain for a week. I've hit my head coming off the bike once since having the brace and I didn't even notice I'd done it until I saw my visor was all smashed. I reckon it's cause the brace stopped my head from snapping around like it normally would. So I'd recommend them for sure.

My son has the leatt adventure ($435) and it fits perfectly with the fly armour. He did have a Oneil Underdog pressure suit but it just didn't seem to fit.
