    Post CCA Ride Sunday 21/3

    Meeting at BP on SH1 at the traffic lights in Paraparaumu (nice coffee and muffins) and be ready to LEAVE there at 10am

    BP --> Maungakotukutuku Valley Rd --> Karapoti (about 1.5hrs - 2hrs - big big friendly 4wd track)
    Karapoti --> Staglands Cafe via Akatarwa Rd for coffee then on to Odlins Rd ( about 1hr including coffee time)
    Odlins Rd 4wd track into Hut and back - marginal for big bikes but as first half is uphill and slowly deteriorates its easy to try and bail - about 2hrs return
    Odlins Rd --> Waikanae via Akatarawa Rd (20-30 minutes) Gas Food and SH1

    Note that the ride through to Karapoti can have its fair share of idiots on MX bikes and quads and care needs to be taken at all corners
    Also the ride to Karapoti contains a lot of smooth clay and can easily become a slippery shitfest if it rains

    Not really fussed what time we start in the Morn, but i would want to be finished by about 3.00 in the Arvo as i will be heading back to the Tron that same day ( trailer trash Though ).
    Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

    Big bike do-able? I have bitten the bullet this year and will be doing the CCA, her at home is muttering something about a wedding Anniversary but I ask you, "is the number thirty really important"?

    the Mungatooks to Karapoti is fine on a big bike. Odlins Rd is doable but has the potential to go shitfaced quite easily and I wouldnt recommend it.

    When the small bikes head up Odlins Rd the big bikes could head down to Waikanae for more coffee or head off home.

    I seem to remember a "jump off" competition in there between my DR650 and an africa twin about 6 months ago... so big bike friendly? s'pose it depends on how friendly you are to your big bike!!!

    Agree with gav, I've been to the end on BMW F650 Dakar, another Dakar and Big GS. It required some persuation at times but we all did it. I wouldn't take a big bike if I were alone though (it only required four pushing and one riding to get the GS going at one point).

    PS come on Joe that's what the Ktm is made for! Otherwise I'll need to confiscate it.

    Cheers,
    Pampa

    So are you missing the DR fella. Your rides seem to be a bit limited in adventure recently (cash aside). Power comes at a price?
    IT'S JUST BETTER WHEN THERE'S TWINS INVOLVED..
