Anyone know of any dirt bike hire on the Pouto Peninsular?

I'm thinking about doing a trip around the Pouto Peninsula, along the 'Valley of Wrecks' beach section in the Pouto and Glinks Gully area, over Easter and I'm trying to find somewhere that does dirtbike hire in the area. I've found a campsite that does quadbike hire, but I'd prefer to do it on a dirt bike to be honest (partly because I'm thinking about buying one and want to see if I like it).

Does anyone know of anywhere in that area that hires them? I'd prob only be needing it for a day. I suppose I could always trailor one from further afield if I can't find anyone local, as I'll be going in my van.

    Cheers guys,
    Dave

You could try ringing The Kawasaki Sandpit, they've now got some late model WR's along with the KDX, very resonalble prices toooo. Tony or Louise 09 420 8879

There are several places that hire DR 6fiddies out of orkers. That would be the ideal bike for a round trip from orkers. Make sure you time the beach run to be around low tide.

I'd recommend from D'ville down through the Te Kopuru road right through to Pouto, then all the way up the beach to Maunganui bluff / Aranga Road exit, or Omamari exits. You'll prolly need to take extra gas. There is a Gassoline Alley GAS station at Kaihu for a refill. That route is about 170 ks, so with a few sand dune excursions etc may be a little tight. (Up the beach is better cos the wind is almost always blowing in that direction)
