I can agree that the good types might also be road riders. They are probably into the bikes 'cos they just like riding and its a way of life.

But at least up here there is a type of off road crew that is more like the boy racer scene than bikers. They refer to their mounts as toys and are just as likely to drop out and get a jetski or mountain bike if the going gets too tough.

Sweeping generalisation but on the whole I totally agree with you on that one. On way back from 1st round of winter series last year I nearly rolled the girlfriend's hilux on black ice when towing the racebike. Lowlife fuckin ute driver following me who had his MX bikes on the back didn't even stop to see if I could drive out the ditch the car landed in.

HJ - IMO if you moved to Wellington that wouldn't happen. I've stopped for people and had people stop for me. tis a friendly place here.

+1. Went for a cruise thisevening out past Makara and stopped for a snack on the side of the road at about 9pm. A local went past in his ute and pulled over soon as he saw me on the side of the road...

Of course I was drawing off an extreme stereotype, but generally I stick to what I say apart from older dudes. Maybe it's just an ego thing?

This is the kind of thing I was meaning. Not saying they are all snobs, but generally you have to know someone for anyone to give a shit, not because you're a "fellow motorcyclist". When I sold my kx125 to get an old zxr250 I was expecting to get the "whos that goon" look on a 20y/o baby ninja (as I got when I couldn't afford anything but a crappy 01 cr125), but instead got people coming out of the woodwork insisting on helping me out. It's pretty much a road bike/road race specific thing

What a bunch of pansies.... Sounds like they have too much money and it's gone to their heads! Boi-racer type bike riders, Hah!

Well, I'm glad you made it out of the ditch ok, but what is it with some people? Even if I saw someone driving like a madman, if they had an accident I'd probably stop to check if they needed assistance or make sure they were ok. People seem to be getting more and more selfish and don't care about others at all!

Ahhhh,.... see! there are still thoughtful people around! I would always thank someone who stopped even if unnecessary....

6km, once i had to push my bike, (which btw, was made out of solid concrete) 15km to the gasser, not because there wasn't one closer but just because i only like to full up at shell. This was over the brendewrns too, They are pretty damn steep. Once i got to the top i realized my wallet had fallen out so i had to go down to the bottom and start again. I didnt complain.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Lol, now that you mention it, the "core" riders were usually on 2smokers when I was riding. May be different now that it's 2stroke 250vs 250f, but usually the only dudes (my age atleast) who could afford grenadier 250s or a honda 150f were brats

On the same day in Paparoa- 15 K in the opposite direction, was the annual trail ride. usually gets a couple of hundred riders. So there was a stream of utes and trailers loaded with bikes and fuel tanks, travelling in the other direction. Not one stopped to see if they could help in any way. They all rubber necked and one even laughed. Luckily a friend of my girlfriend spotted me, put the mission she was on on hold and went and got me five litres of 96. Great lady. I'm really disappointed in those pathetic trail riders for not stopping. I would stop and help anyone on the side of the road who had an obvious problem and have many times in the past.
If any of you who past me and didn't stop are reading this, fuck you.

Did stop for a dead Harley (with a NOS bottle strapped onto the side - yes please!!) on the City onramp to the North-Western a couple of weeks ago.
And a young bloke with an overheating CBR250 a few months back at Te Atatu
And another young bloke who ran out of gas on the Southern-Northwestern link.
    Good on ya mate.
