    Marlboro Series. When and who?

Going through old motorcycle photos and digising them, I came across these. I think they are from the Marlborough series and I can recognise Geoff Perry (G), Ginger Molloy (A) and I think, Trevor Discombe (3?).

There's an "F" numberplate in there whom I dont know.

    Also a K or R.

I'd like to pinpoint the year and also who the these riders are.

If anyone can help I'd much appreciate it.

    Marlboro Series

You mean the "A" is probably Ron Grant on Geoff Perry's bike. Poor Geoff had died in July 73 before the Marlboro Series started if I remember rightly and the picture shows Ron on the helmet.

First series was summer of 73/74 and these pics look to be that summer at Pukekohe. Dale Wylie won the series that year.

2 is Ginger Molloy I reckon.

F is Pat Hennen I reckon.

Like you I am sure that 3 on the front row will be Trevor Discombe. Interestingly there is another 3 further back at the start.
    Cheers

If I can find my DVD of the series I'll lend it to you

I'vre had a look at what is supposed to be my 1974 gracefeild program, 22nd Dec and it shows all the riders with numbers, no letters. There's a separate list of internationals but it doesn't show their race letters.
Pat Hennen ran under the letter F at one time, so to did Wes Cooley....

Would that DVD still be available anywhere? By complete coincidence my younger brother dropped in a videotape of the 76-77 and 77-78 series yesterday. I'll get that transferred to DVD as I don't trust tapes of that age.

    Can't wait to watch it.
