    eek Our BOP Brothers

I have just been watching the news about all the flooding and landslides in the western BOP. Hope all our KB brothers in the area are all ok.
My Dad and Step Mum live in Otumoetai, which apparently is one of the worst effected areas. They are in Europe on holiday at the moment.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me how the area close to the Brookfield shops faired. They are in an elevated stretch of road, so hopefully that is a good thing.

Ever notice that anyone slower than you is an idiot, but anyone going faster is a maniac?

My Parents own the house on the edge of the slip. The one where the deck/car ramp collapsed away. Sounds like the house will have to be demolished if it doesn't fall down the bank in the next few days!
Still could have been worse! Both my parents were home when it happened.

    Sorry to hear that.
Its a small world, my friends own the house next door - we stay with them often.

The problem area is further back up the valley where Landscape Road turns toward Vale Street. Down the coast at Matata is history though, it's a total bomb zone!

One of the de-facto whanau lost his house in a landslide - was on front page of the Herald. Lost absoloutely everything except the clothes they were wearing and their lives.
Amazingly, we have had stuff-all rain up here in the Kaimai - just days of solid drizzle. Hope my ute's OK - it has been sitting in a rental car company lot beside the harbour bridge since Wed morning...
