There's my ignorance on display, did'nt realise they made 'em for that long. Guess my sub-concious told me there ain't that many of them around and I don't know when I last saw one. My mate bought a new one back in '02, road only and plenty of grunt but...a little heavy on the track from memory .......Only saw one on TM today and looks like it's an import

    Thanks guys

Theres only a handfull of XRs in ChCh I believe....

Reality is its highly unlikely the thieves will risk riding it on the road,it will either have been moved out of Canterbury,or stripped down for use off-road

They are keyless, dscompression lever, kickstart beasts...not the easiest to start if you dont know what your doing....maybe the lowlife that stole it had a heart attack trying to get it started!

most thieves are pretty dumb tho.... so you never know. havent taken the dogs out for a while so will go big red pig hunting thiis weekend

one of the first things i got for mine was a keyed ignition. not much security but it is something - and normally the reason my bike wont start cos i forget to turn the key on

Hey Helen, thats a real kick in the guts, sorry to hear it. If Sam wants his CBR back just give me a yell and come get it. I will stick a poster up in the shop window tomorrow.
I will also write the rego number on the front window of my van so i can see it (as i have a hopeless memory) and if i do, i will (accidently of course) knock him off and park on the little fu*kers head until the cops arrive (bike may come back with a scrape or 2 but ...).

Well.... insurance company had an investigator throughly check out the claim on the stolen bike!

All sorted now and we are going to look at 2 XR650s this week, both are local so fingers crossed - there might be another Big Red Pig in the family soon

Make sure with the next one you tie a piece of string attached to a shotgun to it.

Swann -seemed to be concerns bike was stolen to order and doubts that a young guy & the geriatric mother could kickstart, let along handle the bike!!
