Carrying golf clubs on a motorcycle

I saw a guy heading up SH1 last week with a full set of Golf Clubs going across the back part of the seat.

I must say I have been tempted before however talked myself out of it.

Clearly they were well strapped down however if one of the bag poppers was to pop open over a bump.....................

Other than making the bike's profile a bit wider I was wondering if anyone knew the legal restriction?

We put a bag of clubs on my buddies old gixxer last week. Piece of cake.

50cm on either side, 1m front and back, and must not touch the ground according to the latest road code.. I suspect golf clubs would be awfully close if not over it. Other than that no real restrictions. I've carried LPG bottles on the back.. though only about 200m down the road.

Used to tie a 9kg bottle on my pack rack when i didnt have a car, and all the grocerys too. Never got pulled up, dont know if its illegal to move gas bottles around on a bike

I rang the police firearms officer a few months ago and they said as long as its in a Gun bag it ok. Obviusly, mag, bolt and ammo out in a separate bag

They said its same as transporting a hockey stick, cricket bat ect

Dont do it with the rifle in public veiw tho, they might get a bit upset about that

You could use your bike as a golf cart too when you get to the golf course! All you'd you have to do is put a wide pad on your kick stand and stay off the greens. I'm sure greens keeper Willy would mind!

We had a guy in Twizel who did that. Golf cart was attached to the back of the bike ... a wee Honda 90 if I remember correctly.

I usually carry my favourite 3 with the club head in the front side fairing and the grip on the rear footpeg. works pretty well

None of the above stories comape as to carrying a sheep on your bike.....

One of our riding buddies had broken his leg, and after the cast was off, he jumped on his Aprillia, tied his crutches on and rode off into the distance with us..... must've looked a real site to people watching or driving on the road.................. was hilarious really

I always wonder how you manage to get a cow on the bike in the first place.................. but this would outdo the sheep for sure

I remember about 7 years ago now give or take...but while travelling along the southern motorway in the outside lane a patched gang member came up on the inside lane, with gun down his boot....that was a bit of a hairy moment...but none-the-less obviously he had a prior engagement. May have been legal back then lol
