    First proper ride

I had my first proper ride at the weekend , other than just commuting to uni and work. Went to Whangamata for the 2010 Beach Hop. Apart from all the sweet old cars and bikes, the ride over was fantastic. When I went on Saturday morning (could'nt go on Friday 'cos I had a stupid test) the roads were almost totally clear of other traffic and it was'nt too hot or too cold. The hills were really nice for practicing cornering and the highway was great for a relaxing cruise (and for adding a few bugs to my visor). On the way back, I went with a group of more experienced riders who I had been staying with and, after thinking I did pretty well, I realised I had a whole lot to learn, but they were great and gave me a heaps of invaluable tips. In my opinion, this sort of ride is far better for learning than the daily commute, and the Beach Hop is an excellent excuse to do it. Can't wait for next years Beach Hop (or any other chance to go on a decent ride with some mates).

    Which Uni?

Sounds awesome man, which way did you go to get to whangamata? Next time you got, take a detour via coromandel town!

Nice one. You can learn a few things on the commute like slow speed control, but it's on the weekends when the learning really happens. Have fun, it'll only get better and better
