When travelling overseas on your bike there is always that tiresome issue of where to stay. In the past I have suggested to people that Youth hostels etc are not so bad but am more likely to suggest to people in the future that they try couchsurfing. Couchsurfing is based on the principle of paying it forward. People on this site may offer you a couch or bedroom for a specified amount of time and ask nothing in return. As a host in NZ we have had a really awesome time hosting people from all over the world and you tend to find that most of them will, at the very least cook for you. We had a woman from the US stay for 10 days and she was great, she helped with the meals, did a little bit of housework, and house and cat sat whilst we were at a wedding up North. Depending on when and where you are travelling will dictate how lucky you will be in finding some where to stay. We are using couchsurfing as a guest for the first time when heading to Phillip Island for MotoGP so it will be good to see what it is like from the other side.
Couchsurfing is a great way to meet new people, have cheap accommodation and if you are really lucky and have the time and a good host then they can show you around their town and show you the bits that you may miss when visiting as a tourist.
They even have a section of the site dedicated to motorcyle travelling http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=4667 so you can talk to like minded people and exchange ideas/suggestions etc. There are millions of people on the couchsurfing site so not matter where you go you should be able to find someone who can host you during your travels.
