Alright I now have a learners. LOOK OUT!

Hey everybody, i hav my learners and now need a bike, i have a lil experience but nothing awesomely great. I will be doin trackdays often and road riding when its fine otherwise ill take the tintop

I have been looking at cbr250rr's 1990 and gsxr's same year. actually i like all those jappa sports bikes from that era. I had a mean gsxr250 lined up but sold over the dam long weekend i was even dreamin about riding it next week dammit! Ahwell anyway i have $3 too $3500 max to spend, so what do you guys think of these bikes? anyother suggestions?

Awesome! have fun riding...by the way suzuki bandits (GSF250) are good learner bikes (speaking from experience...cheap, reliable, fast as they are around 45hp) and look pretty mean and should be in your price range (closer to that $3500 range .... i dont think you get much for $3 but for 3k you should be getting low-ish ks, mint one)

Maybe look at 1988-89 (MC19) model CBR250's if you are keen on full fairings, there are a couple on trade-me at the moment that fit your budget. I have ridden both MC19 and MC22 (I own an MC22) and the difference is very small. Very cool bikes though! Heaps of dedicated online forums for the 'baby-blade' too...
    1990 CBR250RR - fully rebuilt and awesome!
    1999 CBR900RR - a work in progress...

Yep,that should be worth a look, bandit's are ok as long as you avoid the VVT models....

    learners bikes

cbr250rr and gsxr 250s are good. i have an 1991 fzr250r and that is also great. another good bike to start riding on is the bandit 250s as they are quite quick too with there variable valve timing and stuff. Welcome to the world of motorcycling haha the best form of transport there is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't buy a bike on impulse, get someone (ie a KBer) to look it over.
Also don't get a ZXR solely because 'omigod it has USD forks'.

Is the straight line performance the same between the MC19 and MC22?
