    Question Molesworth Station ride

My buddy from London is touring the South Island on DR 650 - he was going to do that Molesworth Station ride from near Dashwood to Hamner but was unsure if he had enough gas or would be able to get some on the way. Is there anyone who has done that ride and who can give him some advice? He might be able to do it from the Hanmer end on the way back.

Talk to Mark or John Boyle from Boyle Kawasaki mate...pretty sure they've done it a few times. 3846-824

It is approx 190km from dashwood to hanmer. The road is only open till the 5th April so might want to get in soon. Road is easy gravel, campervans go over it, with a few potholes.

Has a (quite low) speed limit, too and is patrolled by rangers with attitude.
Also, does the DR have a standard tank or aftermarket?
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Yip, your mate would/ should have enough gas to get from Blenhiem to Hanmer, go over Taylors pass to get into the Awatere valley, it's a bit quicker and shorter than the seal route. I'm pretty sure the speed limit is only through the Molesworth station section. Molesworth gates shut at 7:00 each night and open at 7:00am
