Loads of shits and giggles, but a cramped cockpit and I wouldn't like to take a pillion too far on one.

I have a Daytona 955 and am at this point pondering what next. Riddin both the sprint and the striple. They are both great bikes. Would go with the sprint if ya gonna do a lot of touring and the striple if ya wanna have fun by yourself more often than not.
Either way they are both good rides.

I vote get a SuperDuke, i suspect it'd be more fun but I think the Speed Triple would be much smoother engine wise thusly probably making a bit better overall proposition perhaps ie: longer distance rides etc...
Rode a SD a while back, absolute hoot to ride even at slow speeds which is a good thing yes? Well I think so anyway.

B4 springing for an S3 bro. Take an S4R Monster for a spin. If you can handle the Ducati maintenance schedules, the noisy fucking clutch and the slightly lower top-end mumbo compared to other nakeds; they handle great, have good tourque and are a more comfortable pillion proposition than the other Euro nakeds. Especially good value if you can get one that has had aftermarket goodies and a bit of tuning thrown at it. My 2c.

Mrs Hitcher would fit OK, though...well, for a while, anyway......

They sound (and look) good with a low exit pipe....there's one here in Toodyay...black with a GP style pipe......it was the only thing he rescued from the bush fire we had through here in December......

LOL, I take it you've never ridden a well set up GSX1400 then? I reckon Brett would be more than happy on one of those. Corner just as well as Speed Triple in the tight stuff but loads of comfort for two up riding. Attitude... mate you need to take one for a ride. You can also buy one brand new for the price of a second hand triple.
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

If i do make it, i'll be bringing the 06 speed 3, so (once i give the old race tyres i have on it a workout to be sure they aint gonna let go on ya lol) ya can take it for a strop around the track if ya like ! Best place to get to know what they can do, rather than road testing one !

You have include the busa and ZX14 in your list for going 'sporty' - those bikes are faster but not more sporty than a S3 IMO.
    Here for the ride.

Now you have found the answer. As we all need at least two bikes to give us what we need, why not have a weekend bike swap section on KB?

Lets face it, you do want an S3 which will probably suit 80% of your riding; but for that other 20% don't compromise, do a swap!

It is a bike I regretted selling but still like what I have now. The S3 is fun and so easy to ride, a fabulous motor etc. However, there are some downsides: The standard seat is horrible and this can be fixed easy as from Macdonalds, mine had a plastic tank and therefore couldn't use my magnetic tank bag, rear shock standard is reported as the reason the seat foam/gel needs upgrading.

I would buy one again but the newer model (2009 I think) with metal tank, longer seat, nicer looks. I would budget to have the rear shock replaced (by an expert).
I agree mostly, but here's my recommendation for what it's worth Quasi.

Get the latest model you can afford, preferably 08 onward. The 05's like mine are plagued with issues, but were mostly sorted by 07. At least with the 08+, you'll have better brakes, seating, looks, apart from those wheels which look like they belong on a circus amusement ride.

Suspension is an issue, with the worst actually being the front end IMO. Some harshness can be dialed out of the rear, but replacement/upgrade will be a huge improvement.
