I'm setting off to wellington now.
There are some great pics and videos already, but for those interested now have worked out how to photobucket, here are a few more.
Nice to have met everyone but still trying to relate KR personas to faces/names. Guess it will come clean in time.
Cheers

Ooooh, an opportunity to shred Rogers paddock, I'm in!
On a more serious note, this is a good idea but you want bikes with proper knobblies for traipsing around on wet grass, the usual adventure tyre will just have you slipping over all over the place. Be worth doing this on trail bikes, if there is enough interest (and time / dates dependant) I can bring down the 200 and 250, otherwise you are better off on a dirt / gravel road practising braking and cornering on your adventure bikes with someone that knows what advice to give, maybe a n00bs ride around the Raglan area is called for?
It's good that you're interested, cos you're a better rider than me & you should be the one giving the lessons
I happen to know where there is a short gravel track where those interested could go round & round all day if they so wished. Plus the MX track & enduro loops. In Reporoa. If we were having an adv training day there sometime in summer would probably be a better idea though as then the adv bikes would be able to make it around the enduro loop.
Rex's place is near Matata he was also keen to have a training ride day there at some point.
Cheers
Clint
Rex's site at Matata has some quite testing tracks , certainly way more demanding than a paddock , it would be a very good place for improving your adventure riding skills.
I've been through it with Rex in a 4x4. I'd take the Scram if it was dry & I had some EO9's or the like , guys on bigger adv bikes would certainly be challenged , it would be a steep learning curve for some. I'm sure Rex would still be keen to try & organise something
watching this possible skills enhancing event with interest - anything to enhance my Nana riding skills![]()
those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind..
Given the bits of broken plastic in my shed that used to be around my tank before I ran out of talent, I think I'd be up for some gravel tips. Dry gravel was OK over the summer but the wet stuff was a different proposition.
Please make it a big obvious thread if it gets planned in.![]()
Oh, a bit of track work sounds fun. I could be in...
Sorry, I didn't do too well on the taking pics thing. I got one or two at my corner point on Hwy 30/ Braemar Rd but they're not close enough to be worth posting. Here's one of Shewolf in the Motu though.
I do actually have some. But they are certainly more suited to beginners. Think small, and limited tracks. About 40 acres. Iian would get bored, but Roj and his lady could get a bit of challenge in places, as there are hills with tracks on, and some good small practice areas. My kids like them.
However they are pretty wet at the moment. Some pretty good mud practice, so more weight training than bike riding. Not fun carrying a bike.
However I am only about ten minutes out of town, so will PM Roj, and let him know when it is better.
I also like the idea Rex was talking about. Don't know his place though. In fact any single track type riding appeals to me. I am up for anything like this in the Hamilton area. Or further afield for that matter.
theres a MX type track out whatawhata just past Oscars up Heddon rd, the MX guys on here use it at times, looks alright but a bit much for the big bikes but up to XR6 size she looks alright. $10 honesty box.

Bollocks, get of your arse and go get it
