I believe I read recently (here?) that some cops who put a spike strip down for a biker are now facing charges for reckless endangerment or something like that. The spikes worked all right, but I believe the biker broke his back and several other bones when his tyres exploded and he was thrown from the bike when he ran over the strip.

Or maybe I'm dreaming again.......

Think you might be dreamin' if it NZ cops you are talking about... we aren't allowed to use spikes on bikes for that very reason... too much potential for strife. If it was in NZ, I would not like to be those cops.
