'Busa Pipes and Air-filter advice required

I have some Yoshi's arriving soon to replace the ugly and heavy standard units on my Gen 2 'Busa. I've read conflicting advice re the requirement to have the ECU re-mapped. Been told the new 'Busa has an ECU that will 'read' the difference and automatically re-calibrate the ignition timing etc but the guy at the shop says I'll have to bring it in and get it re-mapped = $$. Likewise the Air-Filter will be changed to a K&N or similar soon, Pipes will be on the Bike before the A/Filter arrives .........any clues ?

I know they are different bikes and all, but the shop that supplied the Yoshis fitted to my SV, also supplied the K&N. No mention of a tune or any thing. The bike runs fine, in fact better with the K&N, than it did with the stock filter.

I have done the same in a cage and the computer learned itself, with no help from me. Also used to run avgas( back when it was $1.20 for a litre) with no adverse effects to the car, except the lovely smell and it went better.

Yoshi state on their web site that their slip-ons are a direct replacement requiring not alterations. Presumably with the decibel restrictors fitted.

So not required, however a re-map may take further advantage of the more free flowing pipes.

Don't know re K&N - again their website states many of their filters are a direct replacement for the stock filter with no alterations required. There is a whole world of Internet bitch-slapping going on over the effectiveness of adding a K&N. Some state improvements, some as per stock, some worse ........ I have no opinion either way!
