    eek Replating spokes

    Does anyone know if it's possible to replate spokes. As part of my SL125 reconstruction, I am faced with replacing around 70 spokes at between $4 and $7 each.

    I'm hoping they can be replated coz that's a big time budget buster.

    If so, are they chrome or zinc plated?

    Don't go for chrome plate. They'll break. Cos of something called hydrogen embrittlement. DAMHIK. It can be done but it's difficult expensive and not something ordinary replaters do. Zinc can be replayed but it doesn't look good

    I recently relaced my front wheel.

    I sat there with a tube of metal polish getting more and more disappointed with the finish on the spokes.

    I then tried some fine grade wet and dry paper on them and was rewarded with a perfect chrome-like finish.

    Until the first time they get wet when they will rust like bastards.

    Don't know how it work out, but how about having them galvanized?

    Just buy new spokes. I have just had the wheels on the sausage gobbler done with stainless steel spokes.

    That price per spoke seems dear. Try Tom Morris for generic spokes. He' extremely good and very helpful.

    Probably, I think I've seen his ads. He's Wheel and Spoke Services, I think.

    what are the measurements, i have a lot of suzuki NOS spoke sets for smaller trail bikes and there could be something there
