    Kimmys + Novice

Kimmys motocross park was recommended to me by a friend. I have just found their site and it looks great!
Im wondering what it would be like for me and some friends who are far from "experienced".
Was thinking of going on a week day, maybe less busy.
We arent complete beginners but would be first time on a track.
Any input much appreciated. Wouldnt want to go there and annoy everyone by going to slow

Being from Wellington I don't ride there so wouldn't know how busy it gets.
But myself (fairly experienced) and a Novice friend stopped in there to test ride a bike about a month ago. It was us and two other novices there at the time which was fine. The people running the show were super friendly and the MX track was in reasonable condition. Novice friend did a few laps with no trouble and I did a couple aswell. Track was easy and completely rideable for beginners with some jumps that would be good to practice on. Didn't do the enduro loops they offer but the others that were there did and by the sounds of things they weren't too bad either.

I'd say that going on a weekday is a safe bet to find next to no one there and enjoy practicing without others around. Even if there are faster riders riding it's their task to go around you and not the other way.

    Go for it!

Been there plenty of times and can only recommend it. Now they've taken the devil's staircase (I think that was what it was called) out of the enduro loop, the whole thing is reasonably easy to ride and only a couple of places that might have the absolute beginner a little worried. Plenty of shortcuts to get around the harder parts anyway.

The MX track is pretty cool too, it's quite short and fast in sections, usually well rutted up as well. A couple of the jumps are a bit on the big side for absolute noobies, but just take them at your own speed. I learned to jump there... and should add that it was practicing jumping at that track that put me in hospital and very close to having a finger amputated. But I freely admit that it was a testicle size related issue...

Staff are great, the tracks are usually pretty well looked after and there's more than enough to keep you entertained for the day.

Personally I'm not a fan. Had a season pass for Kimmy's a couple of years ago as it was the cheapest way i could ride as often as i wanted.

In my opinion the track is far from satisfactory for the prices charged. MX track is always full of breaking/acceleration bumps and maybe groomed twice a season. The jumps aren't huge but most of them are kinda sketchy with short or flat landings. The enduro loop is ok if you just wanna get out and go for a fang but the tracks can be like riding a jack hammer if you have solid suspension.

Don't like to sound like a hater, just not my cup of tea. I guess having riden the likes of Harrisville, ardmore, slater park etc i've been ruined as they're all pretty awesome tracks.

In saying this I did spend a fair time riding kimmy's a couple years back. If its close by and you want an excuse to get out on ya bike... Go check it out and make an opiion of your own.

Yeah do it! i'm also far from experienced and had no trouble with either the mx track or the enduro loop, just go at your own pace and get the feel of it cos it can be dry and hard and hurt like hell when u come off.
have you been to thundercross? another place worth checking out, nothing too extreme.
