"The police noted there was something going on and came across and looked at the bikes and suggested the bikes were too big to be in Iran."

After Mr Morgan produced documentation to show the bikes were there legally, the police took the group's passports.

"They suggested the visas were out of order and they would need to get confirmation from Tehran before they would allow them to continue."

Mr O'Donnell said the riders were under a "loose house arrest" but were able to come and go and had visited an e-mail cafe and a bookshop.

Ahhh Iran, a country whose arse doesn’t talk to its elbow and when it does they disagree on who exactly is full of shit.

Here's hoping that common sense prevails and the religious western hating fruit loops that claim to run the country, as opposed to the progressive government itself, let these ambassadors on their way quick sharp.

Well done Iran - screwed up yet again I see.

True - and I bet their immigration queue at arrivals is half the size.

Why is it, that one must feel AFRAID to travel to other parts of the world? The world is OURS, not theirs (as in one particular group).

I'd sooner go to the US than any place with sand... (did I mention I fecking hate sand???)

Funny story, a friend of mine said he was on holiday over in Turkey and was on the tour bus. The bus was just cruising along happily, when the TOUR BUS overtook a police car with lights and sirens on, enroute to an emergency...

Either Turkey has some really really shyte police cars, or that is one super mofo tour bus, with nitrous where the luggage is normally kept!

Honestly though, I'd love to do a world tour on a bike, but it's too friggen dangerous!

It's not dangerous. Just a bit of common sense is required (which from what I hear kiwi's are often lacking "scuse me miss mine taking this bag on the plane for me"... lol).

As for the riders, their not in Jail, just confined to their hotel. Also they've got all the necessary paperwork, so it's a quick order from tehran and they're on their way again. This isn't an "Iranian" thing. This is a small town cop thing (appologies to any KB rural cops).

If you let "dangerous" stop you from doing anything, how come you're riding an R1?

What the hell? I will pretend your joking re: danger.

Ever read the book of the poor chap doing just that when he was taken in by rebels in some asian country - dont know.

yes it is dangerous - full respect for them to take such a trip.

Dude, I still intend to do some serious adventure riding, tour the world but, as I am 41 with two two-year olds and no desire to take prolonged absences from them, I'm going to have to wait until they're old enough to ride with me - on their own bloody bikes!

This, of course, will mean that I'll be close to 60 when we do the big world tour - but at least I'll have two strapping 20-year-olds on hand to protect me...

Danger? fuckin' breathing is dangerous. A world tour is no more dangerous than you are prepared to make it. Ultimately, you are the one choosing the route and how you ride it - you can choose to stroll along the paved ways of Botswana or ride out in the desert - and if you do the latter at fantastic speed and wipe out, it's your call. Likewise you can choose to attempt to follow the silk road - and accept the risks that go with it.

That's because so many young men are more interested in the state of Kylie's tits than they are in their fellow countrymen

Bit of a shocker, tho' that the incarceration of kiwis by corrupt officials is downplayed against the life history of an Aussie bimbo.
