Where did you get the $100mil figure for the tent from?
That's not what the article says.

what's wrong with a bit of poetic licence? Ok so there will be some bits under the tent... but if you insist on me being serious on the subject... how can you justify $100 million for a "short-term plan"?

I suspect that the passage you are referring to is
"Labour's Auckland issues spokesman Phil Twyford says although Aucklanders did not want to rush into spending $100 million on a short-term plan for Queens Wharf, surely the Government can do better than a tent."

That in no way says the tent will cost 100 mil. It may - but that's not what it says.
It suggests to me that some prior proposed plan was going to cost 100 mil and was rejected, however having rejected that 100 mil plan, surely we can do better than a tent.

You're right. I lied. I thought the story lacked sensationalism, so had to make up a story to grab the attention of a biker forum and to have them heap kudos upon me for my popularist view point... and all off the back of another story, just to cloud the issue... you've foiled my diabolical plan... I'm off to find pinky to start again...

It suggests to me that a $100 million plan was going to go through until someone of influence objected for a bloody good reason and the project had to be shelved along with all of the associated backhanders... If they had a real plan, it would have been started by now... no backup plan from a government and private industry... not really surprised... it is 2011 next year right?

All part of the cunning plan to rid ourselves of those who perpetuate that abhorent "drinking culture.."

I think they're gonna stock the surrounding water with great whites aren't they? (hungry ones...)

    Quite a reasonable price really,

My undies are the size of an average tent and I have shelled out a lot more than that in the past.

Mind you, got the Super Top for a bargain, only problem was there was just too little material, means me nads rub together like San Pedro's Maraca's........

Still, something for the ladies I suppose.......

Cant wait till Webber Bros are back in town, their big top ground sheets make great pants. Soft, strong and very absorbant. Trapeze rope is not the best elastic mind you so I always have to twist 15km of candy floss together...again, something for the ladies......

This "event" is going to be held during summer? Who needs a bloody tent? Let them drink beer under the stars. The ratepayers and taxpayers will be thankful.

    How very unpatriotic of you.

These antirugby sentiments need to be brought to the attention of the mind police

Probably a good anal probing with a police batton, just to see if your sedition is curable, or whether they have to ruck you till you learn to love your captors.

John Keys legacy - a tent on a wharf for his party central, and a push bike track, still to be started as the only outcome of his recession busting job feast, and I forgot he's coming home from the USA convinced our relationship with the USA has never been stronger.

I thought the artists impression shown in the Harold wasn't half bad. Replacing shabby old pier buildings with modern-styled interpretations of the same shape - as long as the tax payer doesn't have to pay through the teeth for some wanky architects plan then I don't see the problem.

To be honest it's starting to look like the whole planning of Rugby World Cup associated shit is a fuckup. They have about 12 months to get approval to demolish the existing buildings and errect the new ones. They chose a song to be the 'anthem' for the advertising campaign and everyone things it's shite - how much did that cost?. What's going to happen next? I also see that the tickets, as expected, will be overpriced - so much so that you can buy them on a payment plan over 6-months.

They should fire the coach. Isn't that what they normally do when shit gets out of hand in Rugby?
