Blah Anyone in Welly got a spare bike to gimme a go on?

    Hey guys,

I've always wanted to give the off-road thing a crack. Has anyone in Welly got a spare bike that they may be able to lend me next time they go out? I've got 0 off-road experience, but always wanted to give it a crack.

I was also toying with the idea of picking up a cheap dirt bike if it proved fun.

    I'm a big lad, 6'3" 115Kg, but I assume a 250 is more than enough for an off-road virgin?

Quite happy to work out some sort of financial/beer arrangement too.

Gubb/Crasher come and have a gander up Levin way this Saturday.

Johnny Old Vintage MX meet happening for the first time since the Eighties.

Gonna be a shitload of old and not so old Vintage dirt weapons being ridden like theres no tomorrow...give you a good taster of one of the finer things in motorbiking.

Some young charger by the name of Luke Burkhart is gonna be showing us how it's done on an old RM 370.

ohh shit, the cans been dropped and worms are everywhere.

I private place to ride near the city is as rear as a Hooker that wont Cheat.

I plan to have my engine out and repaired within the week mate, then she needs some gentle riding for testing. Will post here when we get into it, I havent ridden for 12 years and had 10mins on my bike, so should be all good. its a bigger, heavier bike than what you want, but it wont make you shit like a cow the way most these dudes rides will, hahahahaa

You can see if you like having a blast around, your a bigger dude at 6'3, so dont see a 350 being all that big. you would want to start with a 250 older XR or similer, you can bash it and crash it and you wont have to pay GE Finance everyweek.

IMHO anyways, my beast was only $500, but meh, it goes and just needs a wee fix here and there. Are you at all mechanic savvy or can you pull a wheel and tyre off? change a sprocket set? clean an air filter? a cheap old bike is great to learn not just only how to ride, you gotta groom a horse too, cowboy.

    Another beer anybody?

When were you last there? The whole track got groomed and a bunch of the jumps played with, but that was late last year so a while ago now.... Apart from that nothing really, few cool spots up the top out trail riding too but you've probably been there, the natural terrain transfers, wall ride, the hill climb out to the right instead of taking the normal track when you come down the goat track, etc...

Still manages to entertain me as long as I don't go too frequently.
