i have a hyo and can't fault it and i don't find the handling that bad but i havn't ridden anything bigger with better suspension so can't comment on bad handling. The late model hyo's have pretty good build quality and if you get a new 2010 model they also have fuel injected so is a big improvement on the earier one's. But go ride both bikes and make a decision based on how they feel to you.
You will not want to keep either after you get a full licence.
Unless you have money to throw away I think you are making a mistake.
Not to discredit the bikes, as they are solid 250s and excellent for their purpose, but if you want to have real fun on a 250 after you get your full, get an inline four or a two stroke.
I suggest you save the money and buy a 650 ninja once you have your full.
They certainly do.

So they do. American model, are they going to be selling it here?
The NINJA 650R (in NZ) is the dressed version of the ER-6N is it not.
The 2009+ ER-6F is hot
Edit: To OP, here's a free tip. IF you get a Hyosung GT250R, please DON'T customise it. That'll save you a fortune.
If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
as we say in italy, don't confuse chocolate with shit.
between the two mentioned, ninja all the way!
as for the 650r, well, in two years gave me great fun...![]()
I reckon it comes down to how tall you are;
I'm 6'2" and a ninja would be ridiculously small for me, whereas the GT250R is the same size as the GT650R, which means it fits (me at least) a lot better than any other 250 would.
Not at all. Black screen is easily paintable yourself, and it looks really good (take the screen off and paint the inside - dont paint the outside!) Any of the noisy pipes on these sound great - don't need the $550 carbon-fibre shit-hot gold-plated one. Second-hand GSXR or ZX rear shock improves the handling immensely. HID lights are around a hundy per bike and look grrrreat!

"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
"Wow, Great advise there DB."
WTB: Hyosung bikes or going or not.
