Is a GSXR1000 K10 Anniversary Model worth the premium?

Thinking seriously about upgrading my K7 to a K10 GSXR1000. I like the look of the white anniversary model but not sure if it's really worth the price premium. All you get is a logo on the rims, a badge on the yoke, engraving on the mufflers, gold side emblems, and special keys.

Do Anniversary models hold their value any more than a standard model? I mean i'll replace the pig-ugly pipes anyway. And i will certainly be riding it as opposed to keeping it under a sheet in the garage.

do you think the k10 is a "worth it" move?

Have you ridden a k9/10? how does it compare to the k7?
I call it like I see it. Don't take it personally.

how much extra is it over the standard model?

only 1000 being produced and they will be numbered so will probably hold some 'collectable' value, but how much is anyones guess.....

Might be worth a look to see how the 25th Anniversary R1s have held their value. Given they're in the traditional yellow speed blocks that many people like, I would bet that they'd hold their value quite a lot better than a random anniversary model gixxer, so if they haven't, this definitely won't.

The other question is, how long are you prepared to wait to see a return?

How much did the "Orange Crush" ones (K7/K8?) hold their value over the standard one?

I'd suggest the new one will do much the same.

If you like it, you might as well buy it and see.

    Been looking into this myself.

The only benefit I can see is the colour - the other options (Standard) are crud (in my opinion).

Same can be said for the L0 Hayabusa

I'd much prefer a K9 1000 in white with gold wheels than the L0 Anniversary myself.

IMO - No - it is a 09 with some bling. I'd be looking for a new 09 sitting in a NZ dealers and talking a deal. Then spend the difference on your own personal stuff. Or wait for them to upgrade it properly - that won't be long after getting trashed by the Honda over the past two years and now the BMW...........

And those engraved pipes ......... they still look like a over worked pornstars penis.

Thanks for the help guys. I agree the pipes are crap and would have to go anyway, I could probably take the twin Yoshi's of my K7 and get a new midpipe to save some dollars. And yep the K9 white with gold rims sure looks the piece, and there's one on trademe at the moment. My dealer is offering some serious discount on a white K9 with the bluish frame that i might consider as well. And hey AllanB, as for getting trashed by Honda and BMW....I not that after 4 rounds of the SBK, the Manufacturers points are SUZUKI 148, Aprilia 134, Ducati 130, Honda 111, Yamaha 93 and........oh wait, the rider with the most points is Haslam on his GSXR1000.

The white one with the bluish frame is actually an L0 (no such beast as a "K10")
There are still a few K9 1000s about, too. Good deals on them as well

Wheels are easy to paint and wheel rim tapes are cheap. Sounds like it would leave you with lots of $ for pipes and the like.

And I think I've been reading way to many magazine reviews ha ha.

I am very interested to see how the big 4 Japanese makers will react to the new BMW, bring on the HP wars again!

Agree, If it was my coin I'd spend the extra on the new BMW, as much as I hate the culture thing that goes with the make. I know I would'nt regret the extra expense. A new GSXR1000 would be like re- dating your old girlfriend with a Hair-do and new clothes....looks a little different but nothings really changed........otherwise I'd go for a new Fireblade ! And I'm a Suzuki fan from way back ......
