Always visual check tyres, brake pads, chain and the obvious fittings before inserting the key on any decent ride.

The worst part is I did do a visual check, and in my infinite wisdom deduced the tire was getting near the end of its usefull life but easily had enough meat on it for a squirt to Taupo and back.

Seems my infinite wisdom may need tweaking.

the bank won't be sad. they will be charging you "honour" fees and interest and penalty interest on your overdraft and a fee for you ringing up and another fee for having an account and another fee for the reaming they are about to give you, and then fees because. well just because. then there's the "question " fee "Why are y ou reaming me?" " cost you $25 to find out, its OK we'll just debit your account" "OK now why are you reaming me?" "um, because we can, hope thats cleared that up"

The new tyre was a used tyre, Only put on to get me home.

Bike will have to be parked up while I mull over a way to get tyres, at the moment the phone is a bigger stress, Was negotiating with 2 companies for employment, and hoping to hear from 2 others in regards to job interviews.

It wasn't a Continental tyre by any chance was it? I got caught out by one of those. The final 200 km chewed out bloody quick on a tyre that looked serviceable in the garage.
