Yep I'd pretty much agree with that, with the exception of the viagra. Luckily I'm not at that stage of my life, yet.

I have been/am in a similar position to you. I have found the bikes win over prudent decisions every time! If you are financially spread thinly and have many commitments, then the Gixxer will probably stress you. How,ever, if[like me] , you could afford to service the debt without resorting to bankruptcy, I doubt you would ever regret it. I loved my k7 gixxer. I love my k9 gixxer. I love my k6 Gixxer! My bank manager does not have a kind word to say!!!

This is driving me goddam crazy...

If you have read THIS thread, you will know that I was stupid enough to take a 600 gixxer out for a test ride. Now I have lost interest in the SV and want the gixxer. But I have to spend money to make the swap - at a time when I am under some financial duress...There is some (most actually) of the money there, but I should use it to reduce my bank loan. AND I have to find a couple G of my own on top of that...this is keeping me awake at night - part of me says "ahhh fukkit - get the friggin bike before you die or get too old to ride it" and the other bit (carping bloody bit) says "be sensible - you'll regret spending that money on yet another toy..."

So, dear KB'ers, what would your collective wisdom advise? Financial security or new bike?

It will be terrible if you are laying a dark box realising you can't do anything any more and it's cold as well!

If you want to and can do it, grab the chance and do it!

Worry about the consequences when you are in the box, you will have lots of time on your hands by then!

I'd say hold on for a while - but then there's a reason I have an old bike instead of a flash new(er) one. It's the big pile of money we hand the bank every month for the pleasure of living in our house (double what we have to pay).

So eventually, I should be able to get a nice bike. One day.

Naah.. Dump any spare on your mortgage. The interest rates are low and tipped to rise and you can't beat having a bit of equity to play around with. i.e. get any bike you want when you are in that euphoric state of being mortgage free. Or go impulse and bugger it...get the bike, get locked in to same bike for some years maybe??

Or you could sell the SV, ignore the Gixxer, buy a VTR1000F, get more power and better handling (and a cool sounding bike) AND make money out of the deal to pay off your loan!!

Dont be so sure,get a price to swap on both bikes,take it away mull it over awhile,if the 750 isnt way outta the realms of possiblity then ring them back and let them know thats the one you prefer but $s the problem,tell them you are thinking of panning the whole thing and waiting awhile to save some more $ if the salesman is worth his salt he will ask what the difference figure needs to be to have you buy the 750,he probably wont like your answer but he may well come back with a cracker deal that you just have to take,who knows.They sell a unit you get a great deal.In my years selling both cars and bikes ive seen some pretty sweet deals done when the pressures on.Never forget that your in the drivers seat,you have money and they want it,they have a bike which they dont want,they need you to have it.Simple.
