    Sore Knees?

I have just purchased a one piece leather suit and gone out for two short rides in it. The thing I have noticed is that it is really uncomfortable on the back of my knees when I have my legs up on the pegs. I was wondering if anybody else had this problem and if it was something to expect from new leathers?

I have heard that you can get alterations to leathers? Anyone know if it is possible to maybe add more off that stretchy material behind the knee and remove some of the leather? - with the idea of less clumping around the back of the knee and less chaffing.

I found the same thing when I first got my Cordura pants. It goes away after a while once the pants are "worn in". As for making it go straight away I haven't the faintest. But I find my leathers to be a lot more comfortable.

One of the many things you learn after you have made a mistake. Buy leathers that already have a bend at the knee, so they don't bunch up behind the knee

As for fixing your set, I guess LEDA leathers or someone else could help you out. I got my local shoe fixer to stich up my leathers, you might be able to ask someone like him to give it a go

Take them in to Kerry at MSW. I did, she sat me on a seat, I assumed the position (riding) and she sketched the alterations to make. The end result is perfect fitting leathers that are very comfy. She went to a lot of trouble to get the fit just right around my knees so that things didn't bunch up but also so that the armour and knee sliders wouldn't rotate/move out of the way in a crash. Previously they were a little loose which in a crash allowed the internal armour to move and a good chunk of my left knee was left on the road.

There is a logical alternative - buy a cruiser and stretch yer legs out

get the leather behind the knee to be replaced stretch material

Or just think about trying to walk with leathers that are switched to the riding position behind the knee! (FROG) !

These leathers have a very thick armour around the knees, I found fidling around with this for a few minutes seemed to help with the bunching behind the knees. I'm also convinced that with a bit of time the leather will soften up, either that or ill get used to it.

Sounds like a plan. What kinda price would I be looking at?

Your new suit should have two legs. Try putting each of your legs down the respective leg on the suit, rather down the same one. If that doesn't work, check to see that you've got the suit on the right way around. The knee sliders should face the direction you're travelling...

Impressive, more details please. What's the address and what does MSW stand for?

Motorcycle Safety Wear, St Kevins Arcade, Karangahape Rd. Ph 3099522. Cost I don't know but Kerry is VERY reasonable. If you go in off K'Rd, go down one flight of steps and turn right. The door to the place looks like a bank vault, if it's closed she isn't there.
