    Would you commute up the Auckland Southern on this?

    A mate wants to sell me his toy for a good price. 2007 - Mint Condition - Leo Vince pipes - Scottoiler - 8,000km (just run in) - tooth off the front and "will pull your arms off in any gear" apparently.

    I always thought big naked twin for me next but his is very tempting. Would keep the CBR as well.

    If you are worried about theft, you are welcome to park it at my place. ;-)

    If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

    questions to ask yourself are:

    1) see above post regarding theft! do you have secure parking available, or are you prepared to pay for secure parking?
    2) is said parking under cover, otherwise expect weathering of the bike to be accelerated with leaving it out in the elements 8-9 hours a day
    3) I didn't look to see what you ride at the moment, but tyre/ fuel and maintenance costs well probably be higher.
    4) What else do you use your bike for/plan to use it for, is it the best bike for the job's you want it to do?
    5) just do it if it's what you want to do, I used to commute on a GSXR750 for a few years, had secure parking, only issue I had was increased the mileage at a fast rate, and squared the tires off from motorway miles.

    Theft! Didn't think about that one. I wonder if ZX14s are targeted more than others?

    I'd want it just for commuting (120km/day/5 days). My work has secure undercover parking and I'm not too worried about racking up kms.

    Attraction:
    * torque
    * more relaxed riding position
    * torque
    * it's not green but it's still a Ninja
    * torque

    Reservations:
    * too big to squeeze through traffic?
    * too much bike to be using as a mule
    * I'd made up my mind on naked for more fun less speed

    I commuted on mine up the Southern and Northern Motorways without any probhlems at all.
    Highly recommend going -1 on the front sprocket to make it more rideable IMO.

    Out of the 28 bikes I've had in the last 4-5 years, this has to be the only bike that I haven't been able to come up with a 'better' bike to replace it with.
    I'd go as far as to say that it is the best all round road bike I have ever owned and I've had a 'couple' of styley machines here and there.

    *I think when you blast the traffic in front of you with those 4 headlights they will move over in fear! so no issues with squeezing....
    *Too much of a bike....?? and what...i stopped reading there
    *Naked is awesome but for commuting within city, you will hate it on a motorway in the middle of heavy rain (trust me have done it myself).... also winter is coming!

    I would not say no.....I commute daily on my GSX, and love the trip, but not the destination (work)...I think the southern motorway would get a bit boring though....

    I've commuted on all my bikes - from a ZZR250 to a Hayabusa and everything in between. No problems splitting motorway traffic on big sportys like that, they're not really any wider than a 600 at the widest point (across the tips of the mirrors). Go for it, you won't regret it.

    Interesting.
