What oil to use for gsxr1000k7?

Just clocked a little over 5000 since i got the bike and it had its service. Im in two minds as to whether to get the bike shop to do it or whether i do it myself.

I went to supercheap today and they had 2 oils which looked good for my use. 1 was a castrol power gps oil for 4 stroke highperformance bikes. 2nd was a fuchs product, had race or racing on the label and remember it was fully synthetic for superbikes exactly like mine. Would i be alright using the castrol or should i go with the more expensive fuchs product.

    And after all that..

Need to get valve clearances checked and a TEKA tune done to my bike as still havent tuned from putting on yoshi 4 into 1 racing pipe later last year.

Bike shop they can do a full lube service (which includes lubes and oil filter, valve clearance check, and a general check) and just a normal tune for around $500. Question: is that a reasonable price?

    Cheers guys

$500 for something you can easily do at home mate,on the pipe, full system or can?if its just the can it wont need any attention at all.Fwiw good quality mineral is as good as anything else no matter what the oil company funded studies show for my money.

Not sure on how to check valve clearances so would rather just pay the shop to do that.

Exhaust is factory 4-1 titanium headers and then race system bolts straight up. Far too much flow and bike back fires when throttling off from around 6k or higher.

I also noticed the cheaper castrol semi synthetic had a higher API rating than the fully synthetic more expensive fuchs oil.

And everyone says API ratings are a true way to show which is a good oil.

Maybe ill go with the castrol since its $60 and the fuchs is $100. That way i could justify doing oil changes even earlier.

$100 for 4 litres of motorcycle oil the only thing funnier is the fact that there are obviously people out there that buy it and put it into there road used motorcycle then as there the fastidious types bin it 3000 kms later and shell out another hundy.Madness.

Maybe it's just me, but I have a serious issue with anything called Fuchs.

If you wanted to go the full synthetic route, you could order Mobil 1 4T through Repco for less than $100. They don't stock it, but they'll get it!

It just shows its approved to the latest requirements, more so in the case of emission controls, especially so in Diesel oils.

Get real, you are not suggesting that anybody from Mobil would ever consider putting a dirty old diesel rated oil in a high performance motorcycle are you?
