Does adventure look brown - blue - brown - blue - brown? If so, it was an adventure.

I blame Cary. He was dancing along on tyres similar to mine and must have lulled me into a false sense of security! p/t

But seriously, it was me: 100%. My concentration dipped on the approach to the crest, just as my confidence was starting to improve: a bad combo. I took a poor line, got into trouble and allowed myself to become a passenger.

I'm not beating myself up too badly but I seriously need to improve on the slippy stuff. Rogson suggested more gas was perhaps the answer and I do know at least then I would have been riding the bike instead of the other way around!

That was my first time in wet gravel and into that special Waikato clay. I should have started later and then followed you

    Hi again guys,

Cheers for the ride. Just an FYI to say home safely mid evening after a big detour to extend the day a bit... I'll make sure I have those Contis' on the bike when I do another one of those rides. Dang clay!

I have put up a blog about my first adventure ride (this one). since I was sending a write up to my folks in Aussie. I got a surprise when my Mum said she had always wanted to do this sort of thing but Dad didn't. I want to do the postie challenge in Aus sometime. Perhaps I should invite my Mum along. She might want to do a bit of training first though!

    You know it
And extensive postgraduate research has shown that my sherpa is perfectly suited to adventure riding in Australia.
