Couldn't the film maker have done everyone a favour and made sure that passing was on the right?
    Otherwise, neat idea.
From my experience you just can't do it legally. The cars in the right lane drive to the right of the lane leaving a big gap to their left - this is the safest and easiest place to ride. The cars in the next lane are also driving to far to the right and don't leave enough space to ride to their right within the same lane.

If the vehicles are stationary, it's legal to pass on the left... right?

Pretty sure that's what the general consensus comes to in the common garden splitting thread.

If they are stationary then yes, but in the video even though the bikes made the cars look like they were standing still, well they were actually moving. Personally, I am happy with passing moving cars on their left within the same lane - hopefully I don't get penalised by the NZ revenue collectors for it.

When I was commuting home last night a few riders were splitting the North Western- then cop sirens and gridlock - a lanesplitting rider was hit between the fast lane and medium with lots of utes parked sideways in both lanes... looked like a FZR / 250 ... hope you OK if you are on this forum. Anyone know what happened if he`s alright?

So that was the reason for all the traffic yesterday, I head up SH1 from Grafton so could see parts of the North Western, nothing moving at all, this was about 19hrs. Hope the poor bugger is Ok.

The winner of the award Surfchick has been nominated for will be announced this Friday evening. Fingers crossed!

If you haven't seen the exhibition it's well worth the visit. I managed to pop in last week and really enjoyed seeing it all on the big screen. Brought back a few memories...
