And for all the traffic cops on here, how come you dont pull over people who dont indicate, people who dont giveway, and assholes that are doin 20kmh under the posted limit? Queenstown pigs are the fucken WORST for this, they would be able to hit there quota in a day if they did that.

Anyway if for some fucken stupid reason you decide to become part of nz's biggest gang, then you need to expect to be dealing with general wankers all over nz, because face it. Fuck all people like you.
Well, goodness me, what could I say about THAT lot!!???

My guys (and girls) don't focus on speed, we focus on the other things that lead to crashes. Speed needs to be dealt with, but there are enough cops already doing it, so we deal with the things that distracted drivers do.

    So there.
I'd say 'bullshit' but you seem genuine, so good on ya. Pity there aren't more like you. It all sounds like positive policing, a very rare thing in this age.

At the end of the day Police arent what they were 20-30 years ago, they seem to operate on a zero tolerance attitude.
Of course this then gets a zero assistance attitude from the public.
Police and traffic enforcement should never have been combined, but it has, and that is what has caused the problem of poor public relations with the police, and why we see people being prosecuted for failing to assist an officer if he is getting the crap kicked out of him on the side of the road.
The system is the system and only the law makers can change it.
The police know this is not a good system, and that the public support for them is falling. Maybe this is why so many seem to have an attitude towards everyone.
    Who knows....
but thats just how it is

It's not just the cops - don't depend on anybody helping YOU (except for aforementioned cops) if you're getting 'the crap kicked out of you at the side of the road, it's a sign of the times and of the way NZ society has gone.

LoL, I feel sorry for straight cops, there are just so many gay mf's in there that don't do the job for "building safer communities" but rather to "always blow on the pie" sounds like the advice you get, if you get any at all these days, isn't worth the toilet paper it's written on.
The only thing positive about the traffic division is..................................... nope can't think of anything.....

I wont be depending on anybody helping ME, I avoid those situations, now Im a little older and no longer training.
Yes it is a sign of the times, and aforementioned cops will sit around the corner waiting for backup, cause bodyarmour and PR24's are no longer enough

If you give them respect, often that's what you get in return.
Disrespect them on the other hand, you get the picture.

They've got a shite job dealing with orroble peeps at times.

Ah, THAT old chestnut. "People are losing respect for Police because Police do traffic enforcement."

Let's see. Arthuer Alan Thomas. David Bain. Scott Watson. Louise Nicholas. Two men spending 9 months in prison on a false arson conviction. David Dougherty. Iraena Asher. Email porn. Etc, etc.

And you're telling me it's the traffic cops who are bringing the Police down?

    Yeah right.

A job that they chose. Like moving next door to an airport and complaining about the noise. People know what to expect when they join up so they shouldn't moan when people give them shit. Right or wrong it goes with the territory.

The rot set in well before the MOT and police were combined but the merger didn't help. Poor leadership doesn't help either.

Yes but that rot has fucked the country for a good 100 or so years.
It didn't help the fact that we were copying the most rotten country in the world (UK) and comparing ourselves to a prison outpost (Aus).
To complain about it now seems almost irrelevant.

Of course the alternative is not much better. A genuine corrupt police force who kill & maim those who break the law.

    So either way we lose.
May as well deal with the devil we know.

Jeez you guys dont know how good you have it. Your cops are by FAR not a corrupt force. And by FAR actually do care.

It seems like some of you just want to highlight the exception as the rule. Maybe to justify bad behaviour, or maybe because you have a chip on your shoulder (or perhaps a genuine reason to be worried).

Perhaps you all WANT to live in the wild west? No rules?

Be careful what you wish for....

As a society, we put the cops there through the elected government in order to keep accpetable levels of behaviour as the norm. So that we can all go about our daily business in relative safety (in traffic and otherwise). The cops are doing what we have asked them to do.

think about it this way: If every other c#$t pulled out and drove on the wrong side of the road at will when they felt like it because they have little to no respect for teh law (hey you would be surprised at how often it happens in the wild west), it would no longer be viable to even ride a bike.
