It's hard to do when you are singled up in a car, along with having to drive and commentate on the chase. You throw the cap with your left arm out the appropriate rear window. Far easier in a car with two cops, one to drive, another to commentate and add authenticity.

    So there.

Not to suck off my own horn, but I've been pulled over 5 times (One was for suspicious u-turns after looking in my rear view), but only ticketed once.
One said he was gonna give a ticket, and boy was it gonna be a whopper, but I was lucky that he was such a kind-hearted soul. Likewise for the other two, I even got told to get my chain tightened, and who'd do it for free!
Oddly, the only one who didn't give a ticket didn't like bikes, nor rode one
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

If the Traffic Police are so professional, how come I see so many breaking the most basic of Traffic Law. I am a Driver Trainer and am constantly explaining to students why that officer .....drove away at a pedestrian crossing before the person had exited the crossing (no it did not have the raised median), why he failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign (rolling stop), why he is parked on the broken yellow line and in so doing is obscuring the entrance to a pedestrian crossing.
Friends of mine are in the Police and so are two family members and I have a clean record...apart from a small speeding ticket about three years ago on a quiet country road...119kph so have no axe to grind with the Police. I am also ex Military Police. We had a Corp Motto which went along the lines of...By example we lead....if the boys want respect then they have to earn it, not just put on a badge. In the Army and other services you saluted the rank...not the officer, the rank, or job always needs respect, the person wearing the rank has to earn the respect. I wonder how much actual training to do with the Road Rules goes into Training these days.

Good points, I for one drive/ride like I'm being watched and judged all the time.

Sadly some of my colleagues are less aware.....

So how do you tell the difference between general and traffic police, because they all wear the same uniform and with the exception of the Highway Patrol marked cars, all drive the same cars.

Excuses, excuses...i wonder does that mean that traffic cops are great at driving but bad at all the "other" police duties then?

Not making an excuse at all.

The post talked about the bad standard of driving by police on traffic duties.

The point I was making was how do you tell the difference, because police on traffic duties may set a higher standard but find themselves let down by colleagues on other duties.

Certainly, i can believe that...i personaly cannot tell the differences between "traffic" & "non-traffic" police (are there any?) so its ends up looking bad for all of you guys.

It's you teaching all those people I get stuck behind is it ? The rule is you give way to pedestrians, once they have passed your vehicle and are walking away from you then you can move on. It is no different to giving way at an intersection. After the car has gone past you can go, you don't wait until it has reached the next intersection. I'd check that one out, as it bloody infuriates me when people do this, same as signaling right at roundabouts when going straight on.
