And how can a man die better
Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
don't think they look too bad, if done right.
But why block them off like that? For the back pressure? And if that's the case, then put the restrictor thingies further down the pipe so you can't see them..
Or at least paint the restrictors (and the rest of the inside of the pipes) black so they don't stick out like dog's nutsOriginally Posted by bugjuice

I saw that guy in Christchurch last year before he got baffles put in. They were LOUD!
Would be interesting to hear them now. I've also seen a German dude remove the catalytic converter and shorten the pipes a few inches. They didn't sound too bad.

Writing this up will take time and I'll probably have to go and look through some of my old text books to make sure I don't make too many glaringly obvious mistakes but the short version is that once the gas is moving either into or out of the cylinder it's inertia will want to keep it moving. You could probably make copies fairly easily from mild steel and get them procoated to make them look good and protect them. With the low volume it would be hard to baffle(quiten) without causing restriction.
In fatc I'm sure I could do a pretty good job making them.
