    Look at it this way...
When one or more motor vehicles are involved in a crash, it is always the fault of at least one of the motorists. Because of motorcyclist's vulnerability, to avoid pain we have to hold ourselves to a higher state of attention, therefore if we are in a crash, it can be said that it was 'our fault' for letting it happen.
Accidents, however, are a very different flavour, and are exceedingly rare.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I did question how IAG can penalise someone for taking all the correct precautions when riding (not johnnys, I mean protective jacket, pants, lid and boots, observing the road rules, not causing the accident etc etc) but that made no difference to the arse punching twat.

So, even with Little Miss Cager (who recently graduated from the Stevie Wonder School of Motoring) paying out my excess, I'm still fecking $500 down on my gear. I am considering small claims to try and get the difference out of her but have differing opinions on how well that would go.

So, thats ASB / IAG for you.....wankers.......

    Quick update,

First indications is that me bike is a write off. I fucking love that bike. Fully comp on the insurance but wont cover a new one.....faaaarrrrrrkkkkkk.........

So, once the hand is right I will be punting for a new one. I will be keeping to a 250cc and something along the same lines, ie low cruiser suitable for a fat bastard.

I'm fair pissed that this stupid blind cager has killed my bike, fucking bitch.......It or I never did anyone any harm, I never went through her bins, raided her pantry, nicked her undies off the line or even farted within a 5km radius of her, so what gives her the right to re arrange my wanking hand and destroy me bike.......

Fucking bitch, hope her panty liners explode in the cold...

Bad luck max. Yep had a feeling the bike would be totalled after impact like that. Mine had 2k worth of damage just from a slide from avoiding a cage doing exactly the same thing. Are they going to operate on your finger or just splint it?

At this time they have decided to splint it until next Thursday when I go and see the specialist at the super clinic. Personally I would have preferred if they had just done the biz but there is so little money around at the front line of the health service that the cheaper options are the better. Dont blame the docs and nurses though, they are legends.

Funny how the DHB managed to swing $250,000 extra into their 'office modernisation' budget at Middlemore though.......hmmmmm

....which makes me cringe even more when I see these scooter riders in town in their suits, skirts, shorts and T shirts. For some reason they think that a 50cc scooter will not cause as much carnage as a 250, 650 or 1100cc machine.......that dont matter, if all are doing 40km/hr then the damage is waiting to be done.

Re-inforces the need for the current ACC protests to mindfully include these guys and get them clued up.

Pies are good for healing as well. Forget Deep Heat, rub a Tandoori Chicken pie into your sore bits, works a fecking treat

Nooooooooooooooooo, pies are not good at all The longer you have to go without the faster you heal. It can be a lot better if you crave for one All these so called medics here making it worse. You have to take headology into account here.

Get well quick mate, we still need you on the bike and with the guitar.

Work as a Orthopaedic Nurse. Often they delay Operating on bones until the swollen tissue around the fracture has well and truly reduced. This is because tissue gets irritated during operations. This causes more swelling of the tissues in that area. That increases the risk of cutting off the blood supply and the nerve supply in the part of limb on the other side to the heart down from and including the swollen area. That can very quickly cause the tissue in that area to start dying. In Orthopaedics we call this "Compartment Syndrome". That is why as Ortho Nurses we are looking at Colour (pale, red or normal), Warmth (cold, hot or warm), Movement (can they move the limb) and Sensation (pain, tingling, numbness or normal) on the area past the fracture/wound, to see if it is getting a good blood supply and normal nerve function.

So in short, it is not alway the best idea for them to operate straight away. Especially fingers and toes (easier to have promblems in smaller limbs).

Sweet As FM. Not in ta bling LOL (well ok yer on my bike it's nice lol), just glad ya have come away from this so well.
That stupid tart probably wouldn't have seen a Truck (would have been her in Hospital if ya had been a truck). Think it is lame drivers using the "Oh I didn't see him cause he was on a bike" excuse. If they are being that inattentive, they shouldn't be on the road IMHO. As Bikers, we have ta be so much more attentive, cause it doesn't matter who is in the right (or wrong), we get hurt the most.

your right ther FM theyre more in danger, due to lack of safety gear.. I was wearing safety gear in the scooter accident I have mentioned in passing and it still screwed my ankle and at only 20kph (although luckily it healed itself over a few months and lots of painkillers...) I hope some of them read thisthread and head your warning too...
