This is absolute bullshit (excuse the pun). How come it is an offence if effluent ponds on a farm leak, yet a stock truck is allowed to leak effulent all over the road. I thought this was made an offence a while back. Or was it just 'talked' about.

As for the Napier-Taupo road, there is no excuse if coming from the Taupo end as there are at least two effluent dumping areas for trucks that I know of in Taupo

An appropriate system to seal their diesel tank(s) to prevent spillage, would be good to have in that amendment as well.

They are not allowed to leak diesel or oil and are regularly checked (supposedly by the driver before each trip) by police officers specially trained to find defects in heavy motor vehicles.

The effluent dumping points can only be used by trucks with tanks and it can be offence to leak from a tank.

The problem is when they are carrying stock it is not an offence.

I have just filled in a police complaint report as the *555 lady officer told me to do. Will post it off to Wellington tomorrow.

I was in the cage travelling Hamilton to Tauranga up the Kaimais today.
Nearing the top on the windy bits was the stock truck, dropping effluent out the back like a stream of shit all over the road, heaps of it. Had Waharoa Trans pt on the door
I took the licence plate number and phoned *555 to report the bugger.
Was told by the man on the end that he didnt think it was an offence to pour shit all over the road.
I told if I hit that shit on my motorbike I would be off.
He said he would log my call and see what happens
I got a call back a lady saying I should officially lay a complaint and gave me web site to go to.l

Asking you guys ... What should I do is worth pursuing or will I get fobbed off.

I know alot bikers hammer this road over the weekend, I would hate see someone fall off on this shit.

Yep, effluent and diesel spills are two of the most criminal acts and companies that do this should be fined very very heavily. They are playing with peoples lives. This is an issue thats in the ''hard pile'' for Governments of the day but it jolly well shouldnt be.

Stock effluent on our roads is becoming a bigger problem every day!

Add it together with all the other obstacles dropped onto the road by other vehicles and our share of the road gets smaller and smaller!

The choices of lines on corners get less and less so what are "we" paying so much registration/ ACC etc for?

Just so other road users can make it more dangerous for us and they make "us" pay for it!

Be careful it is currently the season for wood choppers dropping bits of firewood on the roads too! Sheesh, it never ends!

Aahhhh......fond memories of riding MY RD350 when it was near new back in the 70's, going around a right hand bend, stock truck coming the opposite direction.....sun setting majestically behind the truck as I apexed the bend.....voluminous amounts of piss and shit (and I mean freakin' dozens of gallons!) cascade off the back of the truck as it rounds the bend and it makes a pretty awesome sight with the sun behind it. I come out looking as green as Kermit the Frog and my dog was all over me like a cheap suit when I got home. I was a fan of open face helmets until that day!

Councils have heaps of By-Laws but fail to act on 99% of them Bloody hopeless really.(Did you get his registration number) sorry there is nothing we can do then.....But his company was !!! 'sorry without a registration number' and on it goes..
