You can see at the bottom of the weld the Porosity & the fact it hasn't penetrated at all . Hopefully just a One off .

Shit, I really hope it is a one off - I'm sure it is. All the current top sports bikes have a pretty amazing standard of quality, most of the time.

Or so we would like to think. Anyone remember a bunch of ZX-10 wheels getting replaced recently... for.... dodgy welding!?

but by crikey.. if its not a one off, how much would a total recall on all K5 gsxr's to get the FRAME replaced cost them!? that'd probably be suzuki's profit obliterated for 2005. Most interesting (only because I don't work for suzuki)- I'll be watching this space!

Just imagine the danger on road this could be, makes one shudder to think - I've seen a ZX10R frame torn in one spot (not right through), and that took 150kmph into a stationary object so they arent weak but to have it just 'snap' through G'forces due to weilding man scarey. as CK said, wonder what will come of it - will suzuki pay for everyone to get their frames checked or is it nothing - who knows... time will tell the story..

It isn't new, Hyabusa subframes, TL's shock mounts, Speed triple steering heads, Honda cam chains. They just recall 'em and fix 'em, everyone's happy.

Shit, that's a dodgy lookin weld...and if there's one, there'll be many,it's the nature of robots. It almost looks like it's been welded with the wrong grade of filler rod...though it's a bit hard to tell over the net....

Had a weld fail on my brand new DRZ in 2000..... Not a structural one but one that made up the oil tank part of the frame.... Suzuki's - cheap but......
