With all this rain expected should make for an interesting ride, been awhile since one has ridin in wet muddy conditions,
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

All loaded up and ready to get fuel. All we need on the way is a bit of gas and we're away laughing!

It's not going to be too earlier start either, it's only about an hour from us! Stoked!

Well for those of you that didn't turn up, you missed out on a seriously good ride! The terrain varied and had a bit of everything. It was awesome.

They had made an A and B loop as well as a kids track; catering for most. The A loop was 40km and the B 30km. I managed 150km all up so I sure managed to get my $30.00 worth. The conditions were perfect, not too wet and not too dry. It was a bit slippery at the start of the day but towards the end it was good! Although, if it were to have rained I think some sections of the loops would have been a serious mission.

The 250 just loved it and used about 4 tanks of fuel! Geeez. It was all worth it though and thanks go out to the organizers who made it an awesome event.

    Cheers.

Such a great ride. Really hope it gets a permanent spot on the calendar. I was chatting with the organisers at the end of the day and they were stoked with the turn out. Apparently they only decided to go ahead with the ride 10 days ago and were only expect 100-150 riders, they had 400+ today.

I did the B loop to start with, got a little stuck in traffic on a slippery clay bank. I'm fine with a bit of momentum but when I stop I just seem to spin the rear and struggle to get going again. Finished that and my more experienced mates said the A had dried out a bit.

Bit the bullet and hit the A loop... What a great ride! Nice mix of rolling hills, clay bush tracks, dry soil pine forest and a few gravel tracks.

Thanks for the organisers for the ride and the BBQ. Look forward to doing it again!

Seriously pissed i had to miss this ride would have loved to support Danny and Botany on their first organised ride!!
So close to home for once as well!! Bugger!
But I twisted my ankle at home and don't wanna fuck it completly!

I did take my mates 1600 T'Bird up to Puhoi for a ride and cruised around some nice back roads on it for a few hours!

Yep all those who missed it because they thought it was going to rain missed a damn good ride. - so close to home too. It was like a summers day in the afternoon . Bit slippery to start with, which is always fun, and then it gradually dried out did 120km ! even the lad and girl made it around the B loop ( eventually) and some parts of the A loop later on. A few river crossings, forest, up and down dale, fantastic views over Waiheke Island - brilliant.
Hopefully they (Botany Honda farme owners et al) make it an annual event. Noted there was some landowner there, who gave a long speech, was looking for guys (and gals) to ride on his land for free!!!! from what I could make out. He was one of the farm owners and runs a cages 4WD club. So going to find out some more.
Thanks to the firebrigade, Botany Honda guys - the makers out and the landowners. May it continue next year.

It shall be interesting to see if that land owner does open up a new regular trail ride facility. I've been reading up on his website www.pukerau.co.nz Has had years of experience in 4wd, driver training etc.
