    Suzuki Bandit 250cc

Gidday out there. Am new to this, just joined the group today. Friends have just bought a couple of bikes, got the bug again after a few years, has been a while since riding my last bike, but...Wanting to know views on the Bandit. What is recommended if not a Bandit? I am 6'2 tall, 105kg (on a good day!!!) so need something comfortable and with enough toe to get me up hills...Have placed a wanted ad too, looking for one, so let me know... please.

Welcome to Kiwibiker from another Taranaki boy!

A dude your size should enjoy the Bandit. There aren't that many full-frame 250s around (Bandit, Hornet, Zeal). What's the colour scheme on yours?

Welcome aboard the site Patrick. You are not the only one of your occupation here. Do you think a 250 will be big enough for someone your height or is it a licence thing?

Even a GN250 will quite happily chug you up hills, unless you happen to weigh around the 180kg mark nearly all the 250cc bikes will cope. There used to be a really good post about this on begineersbikes but alas the site went down.

don't get a gn250, you'll regret it, they are ok for learning, but boring once you get past that, the gsf250 (bandit) is a beutiful bike it's my most wanted bike at the moment, followed closely by the gsx250, i saw one on trademe a while back but i got sniped at the last minute in the bidding which pissed me off to no end, and the worst part is the guy who bought it rides it to uni so i get to see it just about every day

There's certainly nothing wrong with the Bandit. Then again, I am biased

Looks great and keeps up with the big boys, what more could you want.

Thanks Hitcher. Am also computor illiterate, but doing my best to work my way around here. Have to admit I am an import to the Naki, came down from Jaffa Land 4 years ago, but dads from down here...must count for something? Yes, I liked the look of the Zeal too, but Bandit would be my first choice. I am wanting to buy, so don't have one...yet. My friends daughter picked up a reral nice one on Trade Me recently for $3K...a 1999 with 10,000kms, doesn't look like it has been damaged and its a nice red one too. Looks like she got the deal of the year!

Hi Sels1. I didn't think I would be the only one of the occupation. Did notice a newbie giving the name of cophater. Looked into his story though, can't understanbd how he is getting the run around even in AK especially if he has done the 4Qs and got a thiefs rego himself, he's done the yards for us!!! Wouldn't happen in the Naki...we even go to letterbox damage here!!! Yes, it is the licence thing and 250 is as good as it gets for a while ay?? Had fun on a few dirtbikes but looking forward to the cruise now...nice chattn, how long you been in for? What is ya "trade." Keep in touch.

Thanks for that Jeremy. Good buying/price for a brand new bike too...but i have to admit, it left me a little flat after checking out a Bandit. Don't get me wrong, I won't knock anyones choice of bike...its all good fun no matter what. Thanks for the message.

Thanks Gamgee. I was recommended to think about the GSXR instead of the GSX, if Bandits weren't available. Bro in law has a GSX and he warned me to keep clear of them, no end of trouble. I don't know enough about either, so don't quote me. Good luck with your hunt. Don't ya hate it when someone gets in at the death on TradeMe and pips you at the post???
