To The Idiot In Red & White Leathers

I was riding to work today on the North Shore motorway (towards Auckland) coming up to the Tristam Avenue offramp when some complete and utter fuckwit shot past me in my lane like a bat out of hell. I was doing 100 and he came past me like I was standing still, he was swerving in and out of traffic, no indicators or anything that would resemble caution.

All I saw was a full red & white leather suit, the bike and number plate were a blur. This dumbfuck was coming up through the traffic at one hell of a speed and was clearly putting himself and subsequently myself in danger because the best part of this motherfucker ran down his mothers leg after birth!

If anyone knows this arsehole then please relay this wonderful message to him and then never ride with him, because he wants to kill himself and anyone who puts my life in danger just because he is a stupid prick with no brains deserves what's coming to him.

If you want speed, save it for the track or for a lonely deserted long stretch of road, not on the fucking motorway at 10:30 in the morning.

Got to say, this is a bit of a pet hate for me. Whats the deal with other two wheelers passing you as close as bloody possible out of the blue?

I was riding the other day, on a 50km road - travelling at about 65km. Out of no where this cock on another motorbike races past me - doing upwards of 100km - but instead of passing me in the EMPTY lane beside me, he decides to pass me in my lane (i was riding bang smack in the middle of the lane to).

I knew the bike was behind me, as i filtered through the traffic lights previously, he came up behind me, so when i got to the front i moved into the left lane in order to let him reach the front as well - looked back and instead he sat there.... so i presumed - ok hes not in a hurry or anything.... only to 2 mins later race past like a cock!

Got nothing against speed - but when you come up to another motorcyclist that you don't know their riding style why pass them so close?!?! Anyone out there do this?

Damn, some people are totally careless... I ride close to my partner when we ride together, which still isn't fine even though we know each other's riding styles... I ride the Northern Motorway heading into town every morning... I've never seen someone in red/white leathers but if I do I'll know to take extra care if he/she decides to pass me... (If I see him/her in time that is)

nah, I was in work by then. And I have grey leathers to make me blend in, so you wouldn't have seen me. However, my bike is a touch bright, so that stands out a little more. And everyone knows my bike..
    nice try tho

    Saw him too, I think

Sounds(?) like the same dickhead passed me on Rata Street last Thursday night. I had number one son on the back so I was being careful. The traffic was heavy and the road was wet. I was in the left lane. The effwit passed us on the left (close - I felt a real grip from the young fella) and then swerved to overtake the car in front on the right, then carri3ed on in a similar fashion down the road. I was probably too close to the car in front so I had some begrudging admiration for his handling skills. I do wish I had the presence of mind to get his rego. I would have had no hesitation in dropping in at the local police station. That kind of shit is what my hard earned taxes get wasted on - sluicing his guts off the highway and paying ACC to the poor cage that hits a tree trying to avoid him.

lane splitting is one of my favourite past times, but i really DON't have time for lane splitters that act irresponsibly towards other bikers. I'm not quite so worked up about them flying past cagers cause they're not likely to hurt them but doing that past another biker is really ******* stupid

It sounds like the same guy having a lane splitting duel with a Motard a couple of weeks back. It doesn't worry me greatly if they have a death wish.
    BTW The Motard won!

I agree, but they could also be giving us other bikers a bad image from their dangerous habbits.

So far, I've not encountered any bikers (excluding scooters) riding dangerously around Chch streets. Did get a fright from a big cc red bike on Blenheim Rd last year, came in from my left while I was in the left lane (of two). Heard his roar so had up to one second warning of his arrival. He stayed a fleeting moment and was gone.

Why would you ever need to lane split in Chch?
