They were in town a few days ago. The cops got into a bit of a panic and setup road blocks to try and stop them. Several of them did get pulled over, and (unsurprisingly) they all have very long criminal histories. They were initially in a large group, but once they found out that the cops were onto them they split up into several smaller groups.

Ah I was referring to their headquaters that used to be off Linwood Ave, I haven't been passed there for ages but from memory they are not there any longer. I was wondering if they have a new pad in town.

I haven't heard about them owning any turf in Christchurch in recent times, but I'll find out if they're still in town and I'll let ya know.

LOL, my days of 'associating' with the likes of them and a few other 'unruly mobs' are well and truly over. So thanks but no thanks, I have no real interest other than asking out of curiosity. But it was interesting times I'll say that much.

We had the option of wearing helmets for Paul Browns funeral... had cops blocking off 2 intersections for us and the ride would have been 10k or so... MotoX bikes and racebikes too.

I wonder if having it legally sanctioned by the fuzz makes it any less retarded?

Oh i would lay money (3 to 1 odds) on the fact the dead fella beat them to the cemetary
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

There is a new bunch of motorcycle enthusiasts that have called themselves the Wanderers who all live over the Eastern side of town. Decent bunch of guys but not to be crossed with.

Nelson, 1968 or 1969, I was about 15 or so.

New Years Eve in Trafalgar St. About 50 patched riders were up from Christchurch. Triumphs and Nortons with Apies. No helmets.

Lined up on Trafalgar street in the middle of town surrounded by a semicircle of pissed Nelson "Yoof" and "Yahoos" out to prove themselves.

From out of the back of the semicircle somewhere comes an empty beer bottle thrown right into the middle of them. Then another, and another and another. it was then all on for young and old.

I clearly remember that most of the riders were really, really pissed.

I watched it all with my GF from the relative safety of a doorway. I can remember all these guys rolling around on a sea of broken glass and blood punching, kicking and pulling at each other. It was horrible, but kind of interesting all the same.

Naturally, I resisted the urge to join in.

It's funny you should say that; I did some engine work for some Wellington H61's back in the day and they were always very appreciative of what I did. They showed that appreciation by getting me drunk and stoned-as whenever the mood took me. Nothing but good manners, generosity and fun times were to be had, no rip-offs in my experience and they always paid cash up front for their engine work. I even worked with a couple of them for a while and cooked brunches every day were 'on the house'. Like any group of people I suppose it depends on how your paths come together. As with most M/C's, my experience with the H61's was amicable.
