Funny...a good mate of mine eons ago used to have a Suzuki GT380 with a 3-1 on it. Strangled the fuck out of it...but it sounded like a bumble bee on crack!

I had a GT550 with a cycleworks 3-1 sounded ok and went a little better than std pipes, also had a set of Bassani chambers with RM125 sized mufflers sounded great going through Mt Vic tunnell, couldn't ride over the smallest curb without smashing the bottom of the centre chamber though, had to immediately change into 6th and get by with minimal throttle whenever I saw a cop to try and quiten it as much as possible.

Those 2 into 1 pipes .... not a high-performance option ... midrange only with that sort of setup - and a raspy exhaust note. They are a blunt instrument.

This is OK in Japan, where traffic speeds are so slow; the midrange is more important. This is why they proliferate over there.

Plonker I bought an RGV off a long time ago told me to be careful of the powerband, reckoned it spat him off at 160km/h down the main straight at Ruapuna. I knew he was talking shit but as the exhausts were mint I commented that he must have replaced them, to which he replied that he had taken the 2 into 1 system off it and put aftermarket exhausts on (which clearly had SUZUKI stamped on them...).

Those would be great pipes to put on a learner young ladys' bike, just to take the bite off it. Imagine her surprise six months later when you have to *sigh* put the old pipes back on..
