Slippery Bits - Wellington Motorway northbound (26 May)

Anyone else noticed how slippery those Patches are Northbound between Wgtn and the Ngaranga Gorge?

The have been patching the "joins" on the overbridge part of the motorway. My front wheel always gives a wee twitch when passing over them in the wet. I'm sure it wasn't like that before?

YES!!! In fact I started a thread a day or two ago.... I thought it may have been down to me commuting on an FXR but I assume that you commute on your ST?

tbh, i'm usually in the rush traffic and doing no more than about 60ish. i do take things well easy in the wet though, and find that the cats eyes when changing lanes give me a bigger wiggle than wot ur talkin about

Yes, Commuting on the ST. It's only a problem in the wet... It does make me wonder how much thinking goes in to these things when they put stuff like this on roads.

I ride home from town @3ish so I am travelling at, at least 100 with flowing traffic. What's annoying is that cause traffic is flowing and the weather is shite with poor visibility you don't really want to be going to slow.... I hard a ute right up my ares all the way up the motorway today in the slippery wet. Little did he realise that my brakes had fucked out, then over the tiny wee corner where one of the slippery covers are in the worst place possible and my whole bike slids. Only a teeny bit in reality but I was puckered.

In the wet I almost always get both wheels giving a twitch on the metal expansion plates when northbound.

Yeah, TBH I have never noticed it going too work (southbound). I wonder if they've used different stuff on each side. It's dark in the mornings when I go to work so I haven't actually ever seen the condition of the road clearly...

It's not exactly light when I head out the door at 5:40am

I remember it being like this 3 or 4 years ago.

The stupid thing is that those metal connections are on an angle, if they were perpendicular to the road it wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, i've had it too. Back wheel usually lets go a smidge.

It's getting worse than the Auckland Harbour Bridge was, and those "joins" are 3 times as wide.
