It was the first great sunny day. Was...

First beautiful day...Sunshine! Took the ST4s out for a run and got pinged doing 86 in a 70 zone going into Mourea..But when he turned his lights on I was still on the 100 km side of the sign slowing down. Wouldn't have a bar of it....Pr#**k. Ruination of the first great day we have had for ages....20 demerit points left arrrgh.

This is the first real bad experience I have had with the law and I think the first time I have started a thread by posting. The beeer fridge is being emptied now to console myself.

I think when he couldn't find anything else wrong he decided to ticket for speeding which I did not bloody do.

One of the exhaust manifolds decided to let go and started making a hell of a noise about 70 k's from home

sounds like a tractor crossed with a harley...

Sorry to hear about the demerits

If what you say is true then fuck the filth. (Oops, sorry, been posted above, but I just felt like reiterating.)
Plead not guilty right now, do it today, write a simple letter saying 'not guilty' and have a think about it. Then go to court and plead not guilty again. If everyone did it they'd have a ten-year backlog of bullshit speeding tickets.

At least you made it out for a ride. I was stuck on the couch with food poisoning. That'll teach me for eating B.K huh?!

Hot and cold sweats, shitting and barfing and too dizzy and tired to follow what was going on, on the t.v. Yep, i'll take that ticket and the day out, you spend the day on the couch wishing you were dead.

Well that sucks big lumps. A mate of ours got a ticket in the same spot for 101kms in a 70 zone a few months back. Same thing...cop didnt want to hear any excuses.

the way that I understand it, you only have to be doing that speed limit from teh sign onwards. In teh transition zone, you can be anywhere from the previous speed limit down, as long as you are under the new lower limit by the time you hit the sign.
its rather starnge for cops to be fining in teh "transition zone"? Are public holidays coming up?

there isn't a transition zone. There is a stated speed limit for any given stretch of road. From what you have described, and it was me, yes, I would write a letter. Back it up with pictures.

From the Police website...worth going to court and for anyone in this situation argue the case with these facts at the time and you will more than likely avoid a ticket....
The following guidelines apply to assist Police officers conducting enforcement activity:

Speed measuring devices (including, but not limited to, speedometers, laser and radar devices) are, if operated in or from a vehicle, only to be operated from vehicles owned or operated by NZ Police.
Only members of NZ Police are permitted to operate speed-measuring devices for speed enforcement purposes.
Police members must be competent to use the general type of speed measuring equipment being used at the time.
All speed measuring devices deployed for enforcement purposes must be used in accordance with the Speed Detection Code of Operations appropriate to the device.
Speed measuring devices may be used on all roads.
When enforcement is taking place in an area where drivers are making the transition from a higher speed to a lower speed area, vehicles should not be targeted within 250 (two hundred and fifty) metres from the point where the speed limit changes unless there are good reasons to do so, such as protecting people operating at road works or to ensure the safety of children. (This does not apply within school zones.)
