What time of day was it?

    Where was it?

Were you asked to "move away and let us deal with it?"

How much had you had to drink?

    Night x 2

Milford street party brawl and Whitianga pub/street new years eve.

No + no first one I became a victim and they didn't even know I helped, the second they knew and thanked me (& a mate)

I can't remember but probably not enough

Are you having trouble getting your head around experiences and opinions outside your own?

For what it's worth, those who put on the blue uniform to try and make New Zealand a better place for all of us to live in - they have my respect and gratitude. I don't think the general public realise even half of what the average Police officer has to deal with on an almost daily basis, and, in my opinion, merely having the courage to put on their uniform each day deserves respect and even admiration. Yes, they may upset you from time to time, either deserved or not. But I guarantee that when you really need them, they'll be there to assist in whatever capacity they can. As they have for me a couple of times.

So, as far as I'm concerned, I take my hat off to them, and applaud their courageousness.

And to the author of that video, well done.

We just need to remember that they too are only human, just like the rest of us.

I've seen a few people "helping the police" but they're just being part of the problem. It's nothing personal, I wasn't where you were, no offence. I'll take your word for it. I've got an open mind.

The funniest thing I've seen was some yob being asked to move along so he pushed the copper in the chest. Slam, bang, thank you 'mam and into the 'cuffs and a night in the cells and the fire hose on you if you don't shut-up and stop your whining by at least 2 AM!

I appreciate that you were trying to help the coppers but sometimes they don't appreciate that They want you to get out of the way, to let them do their job because it's hard enough at times. And if you want to stick up for your boozy mate (not in your case, I'm sure) prepare for the consequences.

remember, there are two distinct kinds of cops. The general duties that deal with most of the everyday problems, fights, etc, and the snakes who like pouncing on the average citizens. Often you'll find even the general duties hate the snakes.

Could it be that like most of the posts here you have no idea what you are talking about but then why spoil a habit of a life time.
Turns out like alot of posts I do know what I'm talking about I have had a few dealing with the police for all sorts of different reasons not just traffic also I have a few of mates joined the police force & they did so to do what was shown in the video, what are they doing? Not that! they're stuck being forced to help operate the "traffic scams" & bring in the $$$. If I remember right I think they said they have to do something like 5-10yrs of "traffic scams" before they are eligible to move on & become real police as shown in the vid.
80% of our frontline are operating "traffic scams", they prioritize the money making above all else incl. but not limited to theft, child abuse, drownings.

I've heard that said and accept that it is a percentage thing. Unfortunately the odds are worse than they used to be and that has/is become a big problem for police. I dare say a lot more people would pass info on to them when they are asking for it, if they were respectful and respected. This quota shit is doing more damage than good.

I know this will be wasted on a lot of you as i know your opinion of police is so low becuase you look at your own lives though rose coloured glasses.

If the only work the police had to do was to write out tickets this would truely be a wonderful county in which to live, unfortunately this is not the case.

    Steve

Actually, I wanted to join the police to help out in the community and do my bit. The only thing that put me off was the fact that the judges do'nt punish crimminals and the justice system fucks over victims, and I did'nt want to be constantly putting in the work to see all my efforts thwarted by some dickhead judge who's feelings always seem to side with the animals let back into the community. So that's why I do what I do now instead.

I would hardly say that all cops have the same personalities, that's just silly.

I would have enjoyed it otherwise. And as for people going into jobs they hate, they bloody well do. No accountant truely loves crunching numbers (for eg.).

Gee, Im glad you're not in the Police and therefore I don't have to work with you, cause your speculation is completely wrong.

Well, a mate of mine who's an ex fireman joined the police about 5 years ago, and has said nothing even remotely similar to that. (naturally I ask him lots of questions as I was/kinda still am interested in that path)

    What a load of shit.

Well, if you happened to be the "snake pouncing on citizens" you wouldnt neccesarily know the other cops hate you, would you???

But we know you are the nice cop (BTW did you get my appology for the "cops are low life scum")

so i guess you are right on that speculation being wrong...
