Bikebits.co.nz and/or speedohealers

Anybody know what happened to bikebits.co.nz? Can't find the website any more...

The interest there is speedo healers...here's why.

Rode out through the fog this morning south west of The Tron to Pirongia and places east thereof.
The approach into Pirongia has a speed panel set up that gives you your speed - up to 60km/hr. After that it just says 'SLOW DOWN YOU FOOL!!!'

I've had several tries at getting a reading from this thing - it's uphill towards it and hard to keep a real stable speed as you come up to it. Managed it this morning. The speedo was flicking between 57 and 58 km/hr. The panel said 52km/hr. Which means the bike is about 10% optimistic. If you believe the panel.That's quite a lot. Even I would like to be closer than that.

So I thought "I know! I've heard of this here speedo healer doodacky. Perchance I ought to look into it." But the link don't work no more...

Failing bikebits, does anyone else do 'em? Oh and any personal experiences with 'em you can tell me as well if ya want to...even though I've read a couple threads on kb.

Those things always read about 6-8 km's slower than speedo's show???

I've found the ones in Christchurch pretty good against the cars speedo. Not sure the bike - there is one entering Tai Taupu and I like to round the bend just before it fast - then brake hard down to 50!

Not sure if that is the intended use of them!

There's one on the road between Pirongia and Otorohanga - just before a twisty corner...I love to make it go SLOW DOWN SLOW DOWN!!!

I can't get it to go "YOU FOOL!" though...sigh

This is pretty normal. I've found it has an error of ±100m - we have those "5KM speedometer calibration" signs on the southern motorway, and my tripmeter read 5.1km at the end of 5km.

I had a speedo corrector on the VFR when I was running lowered gearing. Bought it as a kit from Jaycar, easy to assemble, easy to adjust, blah blah blah. The only tricky thing was finding which wire to cut (involved deciphering the workshop manual), then working out what form of output was coming from the sender. I'd buy another one if I needed one - they're conisderably cheaper'n the Speedohealer.
