    Your speed... SLOW

What's with those annoying little signs when coming off off-ramps, they always seem to say
YOUR SPEED SLOW SLOW SLOW flash flash flash.

What? - is there like a camera & some little arsehole in a control room somewhere passing judgment.

Well SCREW YOU buddy I'm trying ok?

I mean who the fuck are you to laugh at my riding? Valentino?

Every time I go faster & its like he's goading me on. I mean there's usually a corner or an intersection a little ways on. I imagine if I arrived knee on the deck, smoke pluming off the front tyre, he'd still say SLOW SLOW SLOW.

Well I'm not listening. Another 5 or 10k & that's it, I'm not trying any further.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

I don't know what you're supposed to be traveling at to not get a slow, I dare not try any harder because it's just dangerous!
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

There's one of those in Don Bucks Road. I went through on the Yamaha, and it said SLOW. So I went back and tried again, faster , and it still said SLOW. So I went back and tried , absolutely full gauntlet, flat on the tank, and it still said SLOW

I gave up then. WTF are they calibrated for , a Gixxer thou? It's only a bloody chook chaser, I did my best, it's embarrassing. I mean I know I'm slow, and a 600 single is never going to break records, but there's no need for bloody NZTA to advertise the fact to the world.

I was tempted to go back and get the SV , and try that, but I thought , if I still got SLOW on a litre bike, that would be too humiliating, and I'd wouldn't have an excuse.

How bloody fast do you have to go to get a FAST, anyway? Or even an "QUICKISH" ?

Has anyone actually managed to get a pass mark out of one of those things? They site them in really stupid places too, the one in Don Bucks Road, even with it sneering SLOW at me, it was all I could do to haul the speed down enough for the corner that follows it.

    Bizarre>

I was just thinking about these signs a we while ago, as I was wondering why they don't have them after a speed camera. To alert you to the fact that you just got snapped, in case the flash didn't fire.

That way speeders would know they got done speeding and perhaps slow down. I thought of this after reading that our own paragon of virtue in blue, Patrick, got snapped by a cam twice in the same morning. Surely the object is to slow down speeding motorists and not just generate revenue?

Patrick's own story illustartes that the cams don't do anything to address the "at risk behaviour" as soon as it is identified.

I also find myself wondering if he still exceeds the limit on that road these days.
    Keep on chooglin'

I don't see how that would work? They're next to impossible to get a pass mark out of anyway, and if they followed a speed camera you'd only have the distance between to accelerate in.

Don't you see? You've fallen for it! They're using reverse psychology on us! If you only ever get a 'Slow", you give up and stop speeding! You even decided not to ride your SV at high speed because of your dejection brought on by the sign!

    This thread is funny.

Political correctness: a doctrine which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd from the clean end.

Pity there aren't ones for your lean angles.

Well, apart from those ones for trucks. But they show the truck leaning the wrong way for the corner, so I'm sure they must be doing something wrong.

The on-ramps 'round here need one saying "FASTER FASTER" for the fuckers who try to merge onto SH1 doing 80 km/h.

Just beware. The camera vans do use those "NOW SLOW!!" thingammys to hide in their radar beam. Hobsonville Rd is a major case in point. Have seen a van doing exactly this.

Something more inventive than "NOW SLOW!" would have been nice. "KEEP TRYING!" perhaps, or even "THE ACCELERATOR IS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE!" might help.

How about one flashing 'more wanking required, your wrist is too weak'....
