you sure about that? surely the cops wouldn't put it in a place where they can't get a lock

I don't think it is cops that do the van cam's now.
it also might not have been foggy when he parked up.

And yes, you can get a reading in fog - very easily in the 50kph areas.

You can get a lock but you have to be able to see the target vehicle, hear the tone from the radar and have a ground speed reading, apparently.....

this was in 100kphr area, first straight after the gorge, northbound. Spose it depend on fog density too, I was figuring as soon as you could see the van well enough, the camera and sensors could see you well enough as well.

I have had my licence for over 25 years and have only been stopped 5 times (all resulting in a ticket) so really what is the real chance??
We have just returned from Ruakaka, saw 5 police cars cruising for business and one speed camera van, all in the space of a 45 min journey.

Interesting. In well over six hours of travel (mostly on state highways), I saw two cop cars (and only one was highway patrol).

They have just dropped the speed limit through a part of the trip to 80kph. An obvious place to patrol and catch people out, I think the signs went up on Thursday, saw 2 cops in that area alone

I Did a fair bit of driving this weekend and saw loads of cops, BRILLIANT.
Keep the weekend part time wanna be drivers under control, looks like it worked (touches wood) as only one fatality thus far!

Personally I set the cruise control to 95kmph and arrived at my destination prolly 5 mins later than usual .............big deal, I cant see what the fuss is about, keep your speed under the 100 kmph limit if you dont want a ticket, if you dont care and drive over the limit, get a ticket !! thats what my thinking is.
Ive run out of fucks to give

three of us went for a ride saturday HB to Mangweka great day for it couldn't be better traffic was really llight, right through, went past two cops
at 108kph, and 112kph, and they didnt stop me, was great to see them, at last use a bit of common sense, they could see no harm was being done to
anyone, conditions where Ideal. well done to those two blokes.

the less acciidents had nothing to do with their crazy ideas, there just wan't the traffic.
