It's not all about writing tickets

To all you cop haters that think all police do all day is sit in a bush waiting to give you a ticket for speeding.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwXb3p6j6oU

I know this will be wasted on a lot of you as i know your opinion of police is so low becuase you look at your own lives though rose coloured glasses.

If the only work the police had to do was to write out tickets this would truely be a wonderful county in which to live, unfortunately this is not the case.

    That's funny.

Kids' stuff, compared to the RUC.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

I think police officers select their line of work because it suits their psychological profile. No person goes into a job they hate. Cops become cops because it compliments their own personality. They like it.

Ironic. A video aimed at creating empathy for police when they show so little toward so many of those that they deal with

Well he definitely pointed out everything a NZ police Should be doing! unfortunately unless he is one of the "special ones" he never pointed out what the police actually do (i.e. traffic scams). If the vid was accurate they would have my full respect, but lets face it for the majority of front line staff its FAAAR from accurate.

Come on then why is it far from accurate?
Could it be that like most of the posts here you have no idea what you are talking about but then why spoil a habit of a life time.

i got a ticket for doing 94 on the motorway, at midnight (and empty). fair cop? I was speeding (aside from the 120km/hr design of road..). But i was treated like i was the worst criminal in the world, a full wof inspection on my motorbike and an egoistic attitude like i'd never seen before. If i spoke to my workmates (aside from joking) like that i'd be sacked on the spot for serious misconduct. Stuff em!
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Unfortunately it's the ticket writing that probably generates the most hatred towards the cops from the average Joe Public. I would say that most citizens in NZ do appreciate the work done on getting scumbags, theives, murderers, rapists etc off our streets. What they don't like is struggling to make a living & getting targeting by a revenue gathering system that penalises people for such minor shit, when real crime is getting put on the back burner. Police officers themselves admit there's underfunding in areas when it comes to crime, but traffic tickets is where the money's at.

Don't confuse those bastard revenue collectors who pinged me doing 115 kph in a deserted overtaking lane with the Police who clean up shite. There is a difference and if you don't know it get educated.

A close relative wanted to be a policeman at one stage. Two months of watching that NZ Police reality programme a few years back sure changed his mind.

Arresting 20 stone, 18 year old pissed-up pricks on the motorway? Being spat at, bloodied saliva full in the face? Wanting desperately to give some young loud-mouthed, yobbo, shit-head a good bloody clip to settle him or her down but being figuratively handcuffed themselves by political correctness and the HR brigade and the PCA hovering just over their bloody shoulders

"Listen, you fuckers, you screwheads. Here is a man who would not take it anymore. A man who stood up against the scum, the cunts, the dogs, the filth, the shit. Here is a man who stood up." --Travis Bickle, Taxi Driver

But the truth is it's hard to stay true to your ideals. I wouldn't do the job. And at my age, couldn't do the job. And I thank the bloody cops who do all the shit jobs that most of the posters here wouldn't get their hands dirty with. The hard-men posters, who if you fronted them face to face would be very, very careful how they addressed you. It's real easy to be a big man on the internet.

I went to school with a guy named Caldwell back in the 1970's and he went off to be a copper and in his 6th week on the job collected 60 odd stiches to the face from some gang member in a pub brawl in Auckland, I think it was. He was bottled the poor basterd. Whatever happened to him?

Having said that, the police are one of the last remaining Public Service jobs and there lies the truth: That for every guy out there going for it to salvage the dregs and make a difference and to do his best I really think that there are at least half a dozen lard-arses chillin' and waiting for retirement and their pensions.

I put my arse on the line to help cops in a brawl twice, 22 and 15 years ago. I used to respect policemen but over the years they have lost that respect and are now well on the way to earning my disrespect. I doubt very much that I would help them now... It's become too difficult to tell the good from the bad.

I believe a good part of the damage the cop image has suffered is a result of their role as nit picking revenue collectors who make people feel like they are scum because they have committed minor civil crimes. The other part being the crimes (Perjury, planting evidence, hiding or ignoring key evidence, bullying and rape etc) that they commit against others.

I can only think of two police officers that I have any respect for.
